. CARMELLA'S ROOM – NIGHT*
*Carmella* stood near her desk, stuffing a few things into her bag as *Mason talks
“I’m gonna be out tonight,” Carmella said plainly.
“To where?” Mason asked, his tone cautious.
“I have some business to take care of,” she replied without looking up.
“When will you be back?”
“I’ll be back sooner than ever,” she said, zipping her bag. “I want you and Maya to cover for me. I—”
Suddenly, *Maya burst into the room*, breathing heavily, panic written all over her face.
“Maya?” Mason jumped to his feet. “What’s wrong?”
Maya gasped, catching her breath. “Mum and Dad... they called a guy. To take away your powers, Carmella!”
Carmella blinked, annoyed more than alarmed. “Again?”
“Yes! He’s downstairs right now!”
Mason turned to her urgently. “Carm, you need to leave. Now!”
Carmella didn’t waste another second. “Okay. Cover for me, alright?”
Mason nodded. “Sure.”
With a swift flick of her wrist, Carmella cast a disappearing spell and vanished in a shimmer of light.
Mason sighed. “This is gonna be a tough night.”
“You said it,” Maya muttered.

: LIVING ROOM – SAME TIME*
*Fred*, *Mr. Andre*, and *Ann* sat comfortably. The men laughed over glasses of juice while the twins sat on the couch, pretending to watch TV.
Mr. Andre leaned back, animated. “So that was how I cast two demons out of her body. Tough nuggie I’ll never forget.”
Fred chuckled. “Fascinating. You always keep on keeping on.”
Mr. Andre glanced at the clock. “So… where’s your daughter? It’s almost midnight.”
Ann stood. “Oh yeah. I’ll go call her.”

*UPSTAIRS HALLWAY – CONTINUOUS*
Ann was halfway up the stairs when *Maya ran over, feigning urgency*.
“Mum! I think I’ve got a running nose,” she said, rubbing her nose dramatically.
Ann gasped. “Oh no, sweetie. I’ll get your medicine first.” She turned toward her bedroom.
As soon as her back was turned, Maya threw Mason a discreet *‘mission accomplished’* gesture and smiled.
