--- After school, Carmella arrived at the witch training center. Mrs. Emma greeted her with a sharp look. “Why did you cancel yesterday’s training?” Mrs. Emma asked. “I had a visitor,” Carmella replied curtly. “What visitor?” Mrs. Emma pressed. “None of your business,” Carmella said coolly. Mrs. Emma opened her mouth but Carmella interrupted, “How do you know Mrs. Elena?” Mrs. Emma paused, caught off guard. “We used to be best friends… What’s this about?” “Why didn’t you tell me she was a witch?” Carmella demanded. Shock and nervousness flashed across Mrs. Emma’s face. She studied Carmella carefully, suspecting she knew more than she let on. “How do you know she’s a witch?” Mrs. Emma asked cautiously. “That’s on a need-to-know basis,” Carmella answered, unwavering. Mrs. Emma thought silently, *This girl knows something.* “Look,” Mrs. Emma said, “Elena and I are just friends now. Our families come from witchcraft, so yeah… that’s how we knew each other.” “I’m trying to believe you,” Carmella said, skeptical. “Believe it or not, it’s the truth,” Mrs. Emma insisted. “Do you have any business with her?” Carmella asked. : “No,” Mrs. Emma answered softly, “I just miss how we used to be friends. Now, we only talk occasionally.” Carmella considered this quietly. “Hmmm.” Mrs. Emma continued, “We’re not training today because there’s a special session tonight.” “Tonight?” Carmella asked, surprised. “Yes. My mum and I are going to train you on how to open the witchworld portal.” “I thought you were teaching slowly,” Carmella said. “I figured the earlier the better. You’re already great at casting spells. Tonight at midnight, we focus on the direct hit. Do you have a vision necklace?” Carmella remembered the vision necklace that caused her to scream. “Vision necklace?” she repeated. “Yes. A chain that gives you uncontrollable, crazy visions,” Mrs. Emma explained. “I’ll find it,” Carmella said. “Get it before tonight,” Mrs. Emma said firmly. “Okay,” Carmella agreed. “Great. Midnight sharp. Don’t be late. See you then.” Mrs. Emma smirked as Carmella left. That night.. ---
