But she couldn't ask. They rushed inside the house and closed quickly their door, almost like they feared she would try sneaking in. "What the hell?" She cursed like people in movies. But no one could answer and she just went inside. The food was now already almost cold, but was good enough to eat. Fran ate and stared at her garden filed with high bushes, weed and even top of few trees could be seen. She took the biggest knife she found in house and started making her way to shed. She didn't know if there are any creatures inside and just wanted something she gould use to kill right away. Fran was a female digger. Not many females chose that job as it took much strength. But it had its benefits. She shared room with less people, got higher payment, better food and double of vitamin pills. By working in mines she used pure muscle craft, just like other diggers. With that been said she looked short and doubt, but had quite amount of strength and dexterity. With slow motion she opened the old door that screeched and entered spider infested place. No. Better say spiderweb heaven. With a sigh she looked around and saw strange thing on ground. Piece of plank that she used to cut to thick web and enter the shed Luckily, spiders made webs only in corners and not in the middle of the room. She swept her gaze around the room and saw various tools she could use. She took hoe and sickle and after closing door went to the living room. There she looked at rather good tools and realized that the Apocalypse probably started one or two years ago. Maybe even less. With a big yawn she glanced at the covers that were still wet and took her old beddings. They are maybe old, but still made out of thermal material. She will be able to sleep just fine. But she knew she had to take care about heating material before winter. With another yawn she closed her eyes and fell asleep. Next morning she woke up as the first sunlight hit directly into her face and made her squint. In daze she realized where she was and smiled. "New day, new hope. Let's start." Without much effort she cut the grass first outside her door and let it dry. Grass is good heating material if it's dry. Behind house she had more work to do as it was large. It took her half a day to finish it up and she finally saw the size of it and blanked. She really had small orchard in here? With smile she went towards the apple tree, took one apple and just bit inside. Sweet and sour taste hit her and tasty noice slowly went down her throat making her smile happily. "Uhmmmm. Tasty!" It was still not completely ripe, but good to kill the upcoming hunger. She glanced around and saw various fruits. Apples, pears and even few bushes with blueberries and blackberries. Well those she had to eat quickly. She didn't know how to make jam and they will go bad soon. "Or maybe sell?" She scratched her head as she thought about it. "Didn't they say I can bring edible things if I have. They better pay me good." With that she went inside and brought big basket she found in storage. Without hesitation she picked the fruits and put them inside space. Space had vacuum and they won't rot anytime soon. She glanced at the apples and chose to let the grow tiny bit more before storage g them in basement. Wait, basement? With slow steps she went down as there was no light. But from corner of her eyes she saw couple tiny windows and went there. Bunch of boxes were there so there was not enough light inside. But as soon the light flossed basement she got stunned. Bunch of glass pots with various pickled vegetables. Those that are sold one piece five points. "Jackpot!" She hugged one of pots and smiled. "If I find out only how to make my own pickles, then I won't worry. Never mind. For this winter I'm fine." Some vegetables had strange white thing on top but she didn't open them or threw away. When winter comes, she can exchange these for other stuff. And she must travel around and find more things and earn points. And these stones are quite important. She looked at handful of pink stones Steven fave her and chuckled. He probably kept better ones. Last time he went to the right. Weapons? No need for weapons now. She needs firewood for winter time. Some people would be in wonder why would she want to gather firewood in August? Fran might be from 'advanced' reality, but she knew that people just couple hundreds before her time could freeze to death trough the night. Even on their Earth, when sun didn't shone, the temperatures would go down extremely. They luckily slept deep underground and their thermal blankets were great protection. Unfortunately, she can't sit whole winter under the thermal suit or blanket. At extreme coldness, she might not be able to eat anything properly. Or drink. If her space was living space, she would hide inside whole winter long. But you can't breathe in vacuum. Or she wouldn't think about this. Looking at the open fireplace she glanced trough the chimney and saw that it was fine. There was nothing inside so she could make fire in winter and sleep in living room. But first she must wake up her program. He must help her learn basic survival skills. She still has no idea how to cook and gardening she knew only tiny bit. Not only that, house still looked kind of messy even after her cleaning. What did she do wrong? With a sigh she stretched and started walking towards canteen. She is hungry again...
