The Segregation Of Melum Kingdom

The Melum Kingdom was formerly the only kingdom where magicians dwell but during the lifetime of King Arman, he formed love among all four kingdoms in Stronas, magicians then began to migrate about and started to marry from either Culum Kingdom or Prodal Kingdom. Xotus Kingdom never agreed to what King Arman said, so they were excluded from the peace submission the other kingdoms were doing. Melum Kingdom till date still has the highest numbers of magicians, their kingdom has been ruled by just one family and that family was chosen by the gods since they believed in the gods appointing a King for them. Since a great visioneer said that the Ozax family would produce the King of the kingdom, it was so till the people began to question the governance of the Ozax family after the demise of King Arcandor who ruled as the heir to the throne after the death of his father.

King Arcandor was very good to the people of Melum Kingdom but he was a monster outside their kingdom which caused many subjects of the kingdom to raise eyebrows. He enslaved other kingdoms and extorted them, stole their resources and food, he was transporting most of it to Melum kingdom because he did a great shield over them which would make them not to be able to leave the kingdom. Throughout those years, the people of Melum kingdom did not know what was going on outside their kingdom, all they knew was that their King was not staying in the kingdom and he was sending supplies to them on daily basis. The truth was out after his death that he enslaved and was extorting them, their Kingdom was then fined for loyalty breach, and their right to freedom of movement was taken away from them for several years, they were not able to trade with or travel to any other kingdom. The wife of King Arcandor, Queen Estina was left to rule the kingdom because the only male child she had with King Arcandor was not yet up to age to rule the kingdom. She used her tenure as the ruler of Melum Kingdom to pay the loyalty fee and to gain the trust of King Arman and King Ashr.

Two generations after the reign of King Arcandor and his wife, the people of Melum kingdom rose to express their dissatisfaction with allowing the family of Ozax to continue to rule the kingdom. They called on the head prophet of the kingdom to interfere with the current king, King Jelius, who was not willing to listen to all they were saying. Lavit the head prophet of the kingdom listened to the worries and cries of the people and he went with it to communicate with the gods. He got the answer the people were expecting, he then rose to have a peaceful discussion with King Jelius.

"Your highness, I came here to discuss the recent dissatisfaction expressed by the people of this kingdom," Lavit said.

"What about it, I have heard different sides of the stories, I will like to also hear from you because whatever you say is surely what the people want" King Jelius replied.

"The people are expressing their dissatisfaction with the recent governance of your family, they no longer want to be ruled by the Ozax family, this is backed by the gods," Lavit said.

"What do you mean by it is backed by the gods Lavit?" King Jelius asked.

"When I heard what the people were saying, I went to hear from the gods, the gods have left the back of your family a long time ago as they said, the gods are yet to reveal the family that would produce the next King of the kingdom," Lavit said.

"So you are amongst the people who want to overthrow my family, what have we done to deserve this? You say even the gods are not behind us, I don't believe in your god Lavit, My family will continue to rule this kingdom till we willingly give up the throne, anyone who wants to rule must fight us for it" King Jelius said.

"Your majesty, don't allow the gods to be angry at you because it won't be good at all, I hope you realize what you just said very early," Lavit said.

"You ingrate, you do not deserve to see the light of the day anymore," King Lavit said.

"Guards! Guards!!, take this old man away from my presence, make sure he is locked up in the darkest dungeon, I don't want him to see the light of day anymore" King Jelius authorized.

A few hours later, the news spread throughout the kingdom that King Jelius had to lock up Lavit in the kingdom's dungeon because he was fighting for the people. The people were displeased with the decision of the King. They sent a warning for him to release the head prophet of the kingdom but he was adamant. His refusal to release the head prophet raised alarm for war, the magicians of Melum Kingdom versus the royal family. The people fought their way into the dungeon killing so many guards and some of them getting killed. They released the head visioneer of the kingdom and some other persons they met in the Kingdom. Among the other people they released was Kophior the elder brother of King Jelius and the true heir to the throne. Kophior was declared dead some months before his coronation so his immediate brother Jelius was then crowned King of Melum Kingdom. King Jelius was the mastermind behind the imprisonment of his elder brother all because he wanted to rule instead of his brother.

The release of Kophior would cause a family conflict because Kophior would not stay back and watch his younger brother rule the kingdom peacefully. King Jelius had begun to shiver from the moment he heard his elder brother was also released alongside the head prophet of the kingdom. The secret he has been hiding for the past few years now has been exposed and he has no hiding place. Kophior went to recover and regain himself away from the palace for some days, King Jelius was shocked that no one was talking about anything anymore, no one was challenging him, he knew the people alongside his brother were planning something big but he does not know how to stop or counter them.

A few days later, a large crowd stormed the palace once again, this time all the soldiers were surrendering so that they would not be killed. Kophior was leading this large crowd, at the sight of Kophior, all the soldiers were powerless because they knew he was meant to be the current King of the Kingdom, his death was faked by his brother and his accomplices. Kophior headed inside the palace to have a talk with his brother.

"Long time no see brother, are you not happy to see me I told you I would come out someday but you never believed me, now look who is back, firstly before we start our discussion, can you leave my throne and pull my crown," Kophior said.

"Who are you to challenge the King of this Kingdom, How dare you ask me to leave the throne and pull the crown, you must be joking," King Jelius said.

"You must be joking, you call yourself King in my presence after what you did, you currently have the backing of no one, you have no power, you are a mere magician," Kophior said.

"Guards!, Guards!!," King Jelius yelled.

"No one would take orders from you anymore because their real King has returned, now it's my turn," Kophior said.

"Guards!!, Arrest the traitor" he ordered.

Immediately, the guards began to walk towards King Jelius with the aim of arresting him, he got angry and began to use his magic against them, Kophior joined the fight because he knew no one else can defeat his younger brother aside him. In a matter of seconds, he defeated his younger brother with three moves, he handed him over to the guards, they held him very tight.

"You won't just do this to your younger brother, you promised father to take care of me," King Jelius said.

"Yes, I did and I have not forgotten my promise, I will hand you over to the people of this kingdom, they will pick who they want to rule them," Kophior said.

All the people were then asked to vote throughout the Kingdom between Kophior and the current King, King Jelius, who they want to rule them. When the results came out, a huge number wanted Kophior to take the throne from his brother while a reasonable number wanted King Jelius to remain King. Kophior gave his statement after the results of the votes by the people.

"My return was never to cause any chaos that is why I asked for you all votes, for those who want Jelius to rule, they will get what they want and for those who want me to rule they will also get what they want," Kophior said.

"How do you want to make that to be possible?" Lavit asked.

"We shall split the kingdom if the people want it to be so" Kophior replied.

The people were pleased with the verdict of Kophior, they agreed with him to split the Kingdom into two equal halves with Kophior ruling one part and his brother ruling the other. This was how Melum Kingdom divided for the first time. After the separation, Lavit paid a visit to King Jelius to remind him of what he said that made his authority be taken away.

"Your majesty, I hope you know that you are the cause behind all that happened to you, the gods who kept your secret away from being exposed you then said you don't believe in them, this is why your governance was torn into two," Lavit said.

"I wish I listened to you but now there is nothing I can do, it is all over," King Jelius said.

Kophior taught it would be easy to restore the Kingdom back after him and his brother's lifetime but it was otherwise, their both children also split the two kingdoms and renamed them making four provinces from a kingdom. The Melum Kingdom is now divided into four provinces namely; Invaquam Province, Azerihania Province, Rhekaron Province, and Dahacra Province. Kophior plans did not work out the way he planned for them to work out.
