Long ago in the Culum Kingdom, there was a family from the linage which the head visioneer of the Kingdom do emerge, a family of three, husband, wife and a male child. Lynos was the name of the father, Prisca was the name of his wife while their only child at the moment went by the name Idahali. Prisca at the moment was pregnant for her second child, Idahali was only a three years old child. Prisca was not a citizen of Culum Kingdom by birth, she is a magician from the Melum Kingdom. Lynos followed the steps of his father by picking a woman from the Melum Kingdom as his wife. Lynos was born with no magical powers despite being the firstborn of his parents and it had been known that the first child of the union between a subject of Culum Kingdom and a magician from the Melum Kingdom normally possess magical skills but Lynos's own was different so his mum made him a wand and she empowered it, she then gave him a book of spells which could make the wand effective. The book went by his name Lynos Book Of Spells. Lynos's first son Idahali was born with magical skills which he learned to control and use at the age of three with help from his mother Prisca. Lynos possessed more of his father's visionary skills than his mum's magical skills that he was meant to possess so he sees a clear vision about what is going to happen in the nearest future but does not hear directly from the gods like head visioneers do.
On this faithful day, Lynos was returning from the market square where he went to get some herbs and foodstuffs for his family, he met an old man on the way who stopped him to have a talk with him.
"Your father should have told you the consequences of you marrying from the Melum Kingdom, you have just dug your own grave son," the old man said. The old man was very neat, all the strang of hair on his head were pure white, his skin was also shining like he rubbed an expensive oil.
"Wise one, my father told nothing of this, I plead your attention, can you reveal to me how I have dug my grave," Lynos asked.
"My son, it is not my job to tell you how you have dug your grave, you will find out on your own, I have delivered my message," the old man said. He then left Lynos and began to head where he was formerly going, Lynos also began to head home. The old man turned around again and called Lynos to stop.
"You have not only dug your grave son, but you have also dug the grave for many, be wise with your possession from your mother and always sleep with an eye opened," the old man said.
After Lynos heard what the old man said, he began to head home on a double, while he was strolling home he began to think if he should tell his wife what the old man told him or not. That was what he was contemplating till he got to the front of his house, he decided that he will not tell his wife because he was thinking she would most likely be behind all the old man saw, maybe she would kill him in the long run that was all on his mind. When he got inside his house, he tried to behave normally like nothing was wrong but his wife sensed a difference in him.
"Lynos, how was your journey, you do not look like you are okay," Prisca said.
"All is well, I am just stressed from my journey, I am okay" Lynos replied.
"I know the difference between you being stressed and when you are worried about something please talk to me," Prisca said. Lynos went close to his wife and held her both hands before talking to her.
"My love, I am bothered about nothing else but your safety, you will put give birth to our second child in no time, that is all on my mind," Lynos said. He and his wife then shared a passionate hug then they continued their chores.
A few days later, Prisca was ready to be put to bed, her second child was ready to come to the world. Prisca was in pain, Lynos went to call the town healer to come and help his wife deliver her baby safely. It caught both Prisca and her husband by surprise that they could not even try to go to the healer's hut. The healer and Lynos returned in no time and he helped Prisca safely give birth to her second child and the child was masculine. Prisca was happy because that was all she asked from the gods.
Months and years passed since the birth of the child, Lyculn was three years already. Prisca and Lynos agreed ever before the birth of their first child Idahali that Prisca would name the child and he would name the second. Lynos named his second child as his father told him to do to his first child. Unknown to Lynos, the name his father told him to name his first child was enchanted for mercy by some greatest magicians. Lyculn had no magical powers from birth but his father assured him that when he is of age he would give him something that he would use to defend himself in times of trouble. Lynos also promised Idahali the same thing because he wanted his wife to give birth to a female child as their second child. When Prisca heard what her husband told Lyculn, she called him aside for a talk.
"Lynos, you cannot do this, you have promised Idahali that wand already, why are you promising Lyculn now again," Prisca asked.
"The gods have given us this son already, he is the one I am giving my wand, Idahali has his magical power which he can use to protect himself but Lyculn does not have any, in the first place my mother gave me the wand because I did not have magical powers like I was meant to have, I think the best person the wand suites is someone without any magical powers like Lyculn, Idahali is a powerful magician like you are Prisca" Lynos replied.
"I hope what you are doing does not have a negative effect on the relationship of both of them," Prisca said.
"What do you mean?" Lynos asked.
"Never mind, I was just saying" Prisca replied.
Idahali heard all that his father and mother discussed without any of them noticing him. He knew his father was giving the wand he promised him to his younger brother and he did not like it. He then began to bully his younger brother anytime they are playing together, he does not listen to anything his father tells him again, he began to build hatred for his biological father without him knowing. The hatred kept on growing till he was a fully grown magician man.
It was the eighteenth birthday of Lyculn and Lynos was planning to hand over his wand and book of spells to him as his birthday gift. Lynos knew Lyculn was old enough to handle the wand, before this day he has been teaching him and Idahali about good and evil. Whenever he asks both of them to pick or say something, Lyculn kept on picking and saying things of good while Idahali was always picking and saying things of evil like the death of something. Lynos even had a vision before this day, he saw what Idahali would turn into if he keeps growing with the type of mindset he has. After the vision Lynos had, he began to teach Idahali and orientate him about good but he did not look like he was progressing at all, Idahali remained the way he was. Lynos handed over the wand and his book of spells to Lyculn in front of Idahali. Idahali got angry and questioned his dad why he was giving his younger brother the wand he promised him.
"Father, why are you giving Lyculn the wand and book of spells, you promised me that I would earn it once I am old and strong enough, I have been prepared for getting it but each day I ask you, you tell me I am close to being strong to handle its powers," Idahali said.
"Yes, I did not know how I would tell you that I was going to give it to your younger brother, Am sorry, Lyculn is the rightful heir to my wand and spellbook," Lynos said. Idahali exhales sharply.
"You deceived me right from when I was a three years old boy right, I knew you were never going to give me the wand but I kept quiet to see if you would come and tell me but you never did, I heard you and mum's discussion on Lyculn's third year birthday, I have been practicing since then not to earn the wand and book of spells but to make you pay for deceiving me and eventually still have the wand and spell's book to myself, all your teaching and orientation were in vain because my mind was strong enough and I knew what I wanted," Idahali said. He was very angry, his eyes began to glow as orange as fire.
"I always told you to let him before now but you refused Lynos, now see what you have caused," Prisca said to Lynos.
"Idahali, you have to come down, I have something greater than this wand and book of spell to give to you," she said to Idahali.
Lyculn did not understand what was going on at all, he was just looking at everyone the way they were talking.
"It is too late already, the deed is done, his turn is over, now it is my turn," Idahali said. He began to make a fireball with his magic, his mom tried stopping him but he pushed her away.
Idahali shoot the fireball towards his father but his wife was quick to neutralize the fireball with her magical powers.
"I see, I did not want to involve you in this but I see you are ready to put your life on the line for him," Idahali said.
"You need to stop this Idahali, what has come over you," Prisca asked. She then began to walk close to him. When she was very close to him, he reached out to his pocket and removed a knife, he used it to stab his mother and pushed her to the floor. Lynos and Lyculn screamed.
"Now you would know am serious," Idahali said.
"Please stop brother, you can have the wand and book of spells if that is what you want, let take mum to the healer before she dies please," Lyculn said.
Idahali ignored his little brother and began to make multiple small fireballs, he began to fire them at his father until his father fell down. Lynos was bleeding from both his mouth and nose.
"You need to run as fast as you can, promise me you will never lose the wand and book of spells, if your brother has it he would use it to harm other people out there," Lynos said with his last strength.
"I promise father," Lyculn said in tears.
Lynos then took the wand and said a spell, a portal opened in front of him and Lyculn. Idahali saw this and tried to stop his younger brother from running away through it but his mother used her magic to stop him from moving and she shouted for Lyculn to run.
"Now is the time, go and forget about this day so you would have peace in your mind, remember you promised to never lose the wand and the book of spells, always do good, bye son," Lynos said and gave up the ghost. Lyculn in tears picked up the wand and the book of spells and entered the portal, immediately he entered the portal, it closed. Prisca could not hold any longer so she also gave up the ghost. Idahali killed his both parents in one day.
Since that day, Idahali has been looking for Lyculn to collect the wand and book of spells from him. He has had some unsuccessful encounters with him after then. Lyculn on the other hand is trying to keep the promise he made to his father before he died.
