CHAPTER 11

ERIK'S POINT OF VIEW "For the record, you have a lot of explaining to do." Fenrir huffed sulkily but didn't reply. I had just gotten into the leather pants that waited for me, they were tight but not restricting. It was like they were designed to show off every curve they touched. I made my way back to the longhouse, there was a crowd of people all chattering excitedly and clearly waiting for something. I smelled freshly baked cookies and let the smell guide me. I saw the back of my Angel as she was talking to her father and my brothers. I inwardly groaned thinking whatever the idiots say to her surely wouldn't do me any favours. She turned around and when her eyes found me her jaw fell open, and her eyes were roaming all over my body. I knew she liked what she saw. I could practically hear her heartbeat rise, her scent of arousal got a lot stronger and I saw other males look over at her with smirks on their faces. I marched over to her, and I crushed her to me which seemed to stun her for a moment but she kissed me back tentatively. I pulled back and held her to my chest, growling and glaring at all the males that looked at her even for more than a second longer than they should have. She is mine! Eventually, they all looked away, my brothers had that mixed look of defensive for their Luna and smugness at their older brother being possessive. Bard had that proud/satisfied look in his eyes probably thinking, I hope, that his baby girl is indeed safe and protected with me. I looked down at my Angel and cupped her face in my hands, her eyes were wide, lips slightly parted and wanted nothing more than to attack her lips with my own and explore her mouth with my tongue. "Hi." She whispered. "Hey, Angel." I grin at her and lean towards her ear. "I told you I'd be back," I growled playfully. She shivered against me and her arousal ignited again. I will enjoy making her shiver with pleasure a lot more. But before we could say or do anything more her father started to speak. "Alright lovebirds. Shall we get this challenge over with so we can get on with the celebrations?" He said grinning, I nodded firmly at him. "Good afternoon, to you all. As you heard there is a challenge today. Alpha Erik of the Ashwood pack challenged Mathais our lead warrior, for the right to be betrothed to my daughter, your future Chieftainess, Astrid." Some gasps and mummers spread across the crowd. "It's with great shame that I reveal Mathais might have spelt me into giving my Princess over to him. Which I would have never willing done without her consent, so for that Astrid I am deeply sorry." My Angel ran over to him and gave him a hug, after some moments they broke apart and she came back to stand with me. "Now there is an investigation open to find out whether this is true or not. But first, this challenge needs to be fulfilled. So without any more talk, Alpha Erik will you please step into the circle." I did so, not without planting a kiss on Astrid's cheek, whoops and cheers ran out of the crowd. "Geir please bring Mathias in the circle as well please." The crowd parted and revealed Geir guiding Mathias, still bond, into the circle. He was glaring at me with such hatred in his eyes that it was almost like he was trying to send me to hell with just looking. Geir took off the cuffs and stepped out of the circle and towards Danny who was smiling but blushing, it was cute. I briefly wondered why he never told us that he was gay before Bard spoke again. "Right, I will place runestones on the edge of the circle which will not allow anyone to go in or out of it. The challenge will be over when one challenger either submits or dies." He places the stone down and it looked like a heat haze was forming all around the circle in a dome. "Let the challenge begin." He boomed. I snapped my attention back to Mathais, who had already shifted into his Lycan. He was huge, just shy of eight feet, and charging straight towards me. I could barely process what he was doing or shift myself before he had connected to my side and threw me across the circle. I skidded across the sand, causing friction burns to erupt on my side, I heard gasps and I could hear my brothers cheering for me, telling me to get the f**k up. I groaned and rolled onto my front, that s**t hurt. Mathias was walking around the circle enjoying the cheers from the crowd, but missing the fact that everyone looked disgusted with him. I'm gonna wipe that smug smile off his face one way or another. "Fenrir, whenever you're ready!" "Allfuckingright. He took both of us by surprise!" He really has an attitude problem. He took over and the next time I opened my eyes I was taller than Mathais. He still had his back to me, I wasn't one to attack people with their backs to me, I growled loudly to get his attention. His head whipped back in my direction and he snarled at me, but he still seemed entirely too cocky. He ran at me with his claws raised, clearly wanting to get this over with. I ducked under his raised arm and gripped his torso in my huge jaws, I could taste blood but I didn't bite down too hard. I wanted him to go to trial and I wanted to see his face when he loses everything. I had a feeling it'd be priceless. I flung him upwards and he hit the top of the dome and fell back down to the ground with a sickening crack. Some more gasps and even groans from the crowd, but mostly cheers, the loudest were my brothers. As Fenrir, I could hear every breath that was taken, every heartbeat. One stood out to me most, with a sharp intake of breath and her heartbeat quickened. But not out of fear, out of excitement and I think arouse, no outside smells could enter this dome so I couldn't be sure. I turned my head and saw my Angel looking dreamily at me and I flashed her a wolfish grin and she blushed and looked away. She was so fricking adorable. A snarl caught my attention and I turned to see Mathias getting shakily to his feet and looking at me like he wanted nothing more than my death, which I reminded myself is probably what he did want. He ran at me again, this time with both arms raised and claws extended. He really wasn't being smart, I thought Lycans were meant to be smarter than wolves and he is just leaving himself wide open, again. This time I leapt over his head, swung round and gripped his arm, and shook him like a rag doll. He used his other clawed hand to leave deep gashes down my face and neck. It didn't hurt much but I could hear my bothers snarls of anger and I heard my Angels heartbeat quicken and she clapped her hands over her mouth. I let go of his arm and he almost flew across the circle, he collided with the side of the dome and slide to the ground. I didn't wait this time or get distracted, I ran towards him and placed my front paw on his back, and held his head in my jaws, applying only a small amount of pressure to make him know I wouldn't hesitate if needed. He didn't struggle, he simply shifted back. "Alright! I submit! You win!" He shouted. Cheers rang out throughout the crowd, I heard my Angel's sigh of relief and start to clap with excitement, she was smiling. I let go of his head and stepped away from him. He looked pisssed with himself, he punched the ground out of anger. "We have a winner by submission!" Bard shouted happily. "Alpha Erik of Ashwood pack!" More cheers, whoops and hollers from the crowd. He bent and picked up the stone he had placed and the dome faded away. I saw Geir run forward, throw Mathias a pair of trousers, he put them on and was bound again and quickly lead away, all the while glaring at me. My brothers came charging at me, followed by my Angel and the other members of the crowd. Usually, I would've celebrated with my brothers but this time I shifted back and put on the trousers they were offering. Once I had done them up I walked straight to my Angel, who was grinning at me. Till her eyes landed on my wounds and her face fell. I didn't like her face looking sad and worried, I wanted her to stay smiling and being happy. I went to wrap my arms around her when she stopped me, I frowned down at her but she didn't say anything but she had a mischievous grin on her face. She held her hands over my wounds and began to sing something. It was a beautiful song even if I didn't understand what she was saying. I fell into an almost trance like state just listening to her, Fenrir was even purring happily. When she stopped singing, I blinked a few times and shook my head to clear the slight fog that was still clinging to me. I looked down and she smiled happily up at me, I looked at my wounds and saw that they had already completely healed. Not even a pink scar was there, my skin was good as new. I was so astonished, I didn't really pay attention to the crowd that they were all whispering. I just wrapped my arms around my Angel in a bear hug.
