ERIK'S POINT OF VIEW Numb. That's all I felt. Even while running, I barely felt my heart rate picking up. It didn't feel cold or warm or hot. I didn't notice the breeze. My body had been going number and number since carrying Astrid to the hospital. I thought it was an adrenaline response. But right now, running through the forest, I didn't think it was right.
