"Did you set the session with Gigi?" I questioned Brittney as I'd called for her the moment I got into my office the following day.
"Yes, ma'am. She'll be seeing you by 2pm"
"I thought I told you to refer to me by my name, Brittney"
Brittney's eyes widened and as if she'd just realized a grave mistake, she bowed her head; apologizing. "I'm sorry, ma'am. I forgot. I mean, Miss Ciara"
Now when she put it that way, it sounded as if I was threatening her to call me by name so inorder to clear up the misunderstanding, I explained. "I would like us to be friends, Brittney --not just an employee and a boss-- that's why I told you to call me by my name and not 'Ma'am' or 'Madam' "
