The imposing gates of the Harvard campus stood tall, a symbolic threshold to a world of opportunities that Grace had once only dreamt of. As she paused before entering, her mind journeyed back to the fragments of a past that made her the person that she is today.
The memories surged, like an old film reel starting to play, transporting her to the day she stood in front of a different gate—the entrance to the foster care system. The haunting echo of sirens, the blurred images of flashing lights, and the piercing sounds of a car accident still lingered in her mind.
That unfateful night had taken away the only family she had known—her parents. Both her parents grew up in foster care and worked very hard to raise above it
