LINKING THE CHAIN
'Wizard Ramble?'
Ramble woke up in bed, staring around the room in an effort to make out who was speaking to him in the darkness. He could hear Hogwash and Hokum breathing deeply in their sleep, and Small, feeling much better, had taken up his usual place above Ramble's pillow.
He blinked, wondering if he had dreamt it, but the voice came again.
'Wizard Ramble? Can you hear me?'
The voice was very familiar and, as there was no one else in the room, there was only one person it could be. 'Wilhelmina, is that you?' he whispered.
'Yes. You weren't asleep, were you?' she asked, he voice sounding anxious.
'Never mind that,' he said, stretching and pulling back the covers. 'Only something important would make you contact me this early in the morning. What is it?'
