27 RAMBLE'S MAGIC The midday sun was obscured from view as the rosebush, now so large that it was looming over the city, continued growing taller and wider. The pot it had been in had long since broken, and now the roots expanded across the ground, sinking deep into the soil. The battle was still raging, but Ramble knew that the rosebush was almost at the size he needed it. 'Just another minute,' he said to Wilhelmina, who was shaking with the effort. He also felt the effects of using so much magic; not only from helping to grow the rosebush and maintaining his part of the barrier, but also what he'd used to help evacuate the city.
