When he made it to the pool, Phatima was not yet there. He fought the heavy feeling of worry and regret that was settling in the pit of his stomach because of the thought that she might have made it up to her room and changed her mind. Maybe what he’d done, she decided, was too much for her to ignore and move on from. The idea of having to be in his company again and see his face was probably repulsive to her.
