The entire time he was gone, Phatima was on edge.  It was like she could suddenly hear all of the other footsteps in the house, the other voices in conversation, life moving around the large home she hadn’t acknowledged before. When the first knock rapped against her door and a voice deeper than the Lieutenant's spoke, she felt like she jumped right out of her skin. She didn't answer in return, choosing to wait almost ten minutes before sliding from the bed and down to her knees. Once she reached the door, she only opened it a c***k to assess if anyone was standing on the other side before sliding her arm through and pulling the tray inside the room.  Instead of making her way back to bed, she turned and sat right there on the floor with her back to the door.
