Chapter 4: Hesitation

I averted gazing in the direction of the one that seems to me like he wants to devour me already, he is making me feel in some type of way, he is making my heart dribble authentically and It is best l avoid something like that, maybe it is because l have never seen anyone like him, the urge luring me to crave a moment beside him, this is a feeling of one that has found his mate, this would have been the story if he was a wolf, there no way I can be a mate to a Lycan, the next tyranny king of the Blood Moon Clan, am l being unfortunate? Maybe it is because he is a walking God, his posterior is that of a holy idol, my eyes have never glimpsed a perfect epitome of beauty like him.

This is something l must hide from everybody, I must never tell anybody how l feel about this creature, what l feel for the son of a Lycan king, someone like him might bring a bad omen as the signs are already manifesting, how can I feel this way towards an enemy, I'm sure he might kill me the moment he has a chance, this is a nightmare, have always known l was bad news right from when l bloom into a Beta, now my mate is a Lycan, who will ever allow that? This implies I am going to build a union that is stated as an abomination, how can l become the head Alpha, to rule my pack after my father?

It is best nobody know that l have found my mate, maybe when l finally prove myself worthy, l will become the next leader with a mate l choose, my heart began to ache fiercely from the thought that he might never be mine, l want to be his, his dominant demeanour like one that strives to take care of me, what if he doesn't feel the same way, or he is only looking at me because l look like a fragile whim, he feels peaceful to me, l want to know him but if wishes were horses because he will never look at me that way.

Someone like him will never have anything to do with me, and it is for the best, l will pretend that l never felt this way today, l let out a frustrating sigh closing my eyes shut.

"Are you alright? "Bryan's voice sounded like denunciation in my head.

" I'm fine,'' l opened my eyes and shook my vehemently at him, he held my hand and nodded back at me, saying,

"Let's have a drink after Kylian."

" You should focus on your daily task, don't you want to beat me in becoming the head Alpha?"

"Who is interested in becoming the head Alpha, l'm not suitable for that, l just want to find my mate and boom, we run away together, and l do not wish to live under the same roof with father for a long time."

" Easier said than done, Bryan."

"Kylian you need to go easy on yourself, you don't even have friends, you will surely get lonely one day, you can live out of what is created for you, live more freely, and nobody is competing with you." He said sincerely which felt so much to have my younger brother say that to me.

" l wish Father will say this to me, maybe l will be a tiny bit wiser, he doesn't have hope in me and l know he doesn't want me to take over from him, he doesn't wish for a Beta son to rule his Pack, a Pack he has kept safe with his sweats, so l need to prove myself to him, that l can do it, okay?" I confessed tapping on his shoulder with a questioning gaze.

"I understand what you mean Kylian, do what you want, l will always be by your side, " He said and l gave an eye smile to the considerate words, Alphas are undoubtedly the most intelligent, l wish l was one, l will be able to excel wider, maybe l would have been more better, maybe things wouldn't have turned out this way, maybe l wouldn't have to fight an invisible feud for the seat that rightfully belongs to me.

The full moon is in two days, and while l turn 20years and Bryan turns 18years l hope he finds his mate, I groaned within me looking with pride in my eyes at my brother, l do not want him to be lonely, or be unfortunate like me to have a Lycan for a mate, one that will never want you.

Promptly the ceremony came almost to an end, the messenger of the moon goddess howled happily for the Moon Goddess had accepted our annual offer, our bids and desire are accepted and the full moon appears in two days, the younger one is going to bloom and shift into their fate, dance and scamper through the Woods under the moonlight of the moon Goddess.

The ground roamed in celebration, and a holler of excitement filled the air, Bryan and l held hands and jumped joyfully. It is a thing of joy and contentment that the Moon goddess has looked down on us gracefully, it is that time of the year again.

My jaw widened at the powerful force that pulled me aggressively, my eyes blinked in disbelief at who was in front of me holding my hand and taking me with him.

Is this some sort of dream, when did he get here? How come? Where is he taking me? Does he realise that we are amid everybody, what will my father think when he sees me with him, Bryan might be scared that he is trying to harm me or take me hostage.

" What do you think you are doing? '' I grumbled exasperatedly at him yanking my hand off his grip, but he turned to look at me bitterly like I am the one who offended him.

"My name is Rowan."He answered sonorously.

" l know who you are, l mean who doesn't know you! What business do you have with me, "l mumbled bitterly but as if the countenance of his face was gloomy, his dark aura threatened my being, and the enticing scent of lily coming from him doesn't look like him.

"How do you feel about me?"

" Huh?"

"I ask you again, How do you feel about me?"

My eyes widened in surprise from the sentence he said carelessly, why did he say it like that? Is this how the Lycan approaches their mate? I stare wordlessly at him as he put both hands in his pocket waiting for my answer

" l do not--------------"

"You are my mate?" He scoffed, cutting my words short, "Do you know what that means?"

" What?"

"You belong to me and you don't get to hold the hands of another."

" Including my brother?"

"Yes! Since you already know who l am, how do you feel about me? Do you accept me as your mate?''

" You don't even know me."
