October 31st I braced myself before stepping into the school, knowing how noisy it would be. Guessing correctly, my ears throbbed as I walked through the corridors and entered the booming classroom. I wish I could escape to the library or the rooftop garden. Students were racing around the room, setting everything up, climbing chairs and tables like crazy monkeys. Forgetting I existed, I took the opportunity to sit down and pick up a book. The noises around me faded as I entered an imaginary world. In the midst of my immersion, only one conversation made its way into my ears in the form of whispering gossip.
“Woah, these are pretty cool!”
“Yeah, who sewed them?”
“That awkward kid right there.”
“Was she even in our group?”
