Chapter 4 Amanda’s POV I was still very furious by the time I reached home, I hated the guts of that man, I couldn’t believe his nerve, he must think he was so high and mighty, he must expect everyone to just fall at his feet because he was the rich and famous William Knight. I angrily took of my shoes and threw them in a corner, I stormed into the living room and found Jessie watching a movie, she looked at me with a question clearly written on her face, I ignored her and collapsed on the chair. “Should I even ask?” she said as she sat up to get a better look at me, I exhaled loudly and said “I hate William Knight, I could probably run him over with a car and not feel anything at all” “When you say William Knight, do you mean the William knight or someone else?” Jessie said, suddenly looking very excited, “Yep the one and only” I answered, disdain dripping from every word. “How on earth did you get tangled up with him?” Jessie said, “Don’t even get me started on that man please, I believe I have enough of William Knight for a day” I said and I proceeded to stretch out my body on the sofa, “Well I don’t know how you met him but I think you should be careful with him, you hardly pay attention to anything other than your work so you might not know much about William Knight but people say he can be really mean” Jesse said. There was no need for Jesse to warn me, I believe I had an idea exactly the type of person William Knight was, I had a feeling this was contract I was going to have a hard time completing and I really needed the money Mrs. Knight was offering, it will completely change mine and Jesse’s life, I couldn’t just quit and forget about the money. I sat up to look at Jesse, she sat there on the sofa with a worried look on her face, her black hair was tied back in a single braid, her huge eyes were watching me closely. “Don’t worry about me Jesse, I can handle him, he isn’t so bad” I said with a smile, Jesse smiled as well and said “Don’t worry sis, if you can’t handle him, you can just send me to him and I will make his life a living hell, no one messes with my big sis” I laughed and said “I doubt he will be able to handle you at all, I don’t think anyone can” Jesse laughed and rushed over to seat beside me on the chair, she had a somewhat mischievous look on her face “I already the rumors about his personality are true judging from your reaction after meeting him, so tell me, what about his looks? Is he as handsome as the pictures or does he look even better?” she said, the mischief in her smile was so very clear. A picture of William Knight’s handsome face and clear blue eyes drifted before my eyes and I hurriedly shoved it away, it didn’t matter how handsome he was if he had the personality of an ass. “Don’t you have homework young lady?” I said and playfully shoved Jesse away. She groaned and said “You are few steps away from becoming a boring sister” I laughed and said “I don’t care if I am boring, now off you go” Jesse groaned even louder but she stood up anyways and walked away to finish her homework. I lay back on the sofa and couldn’t help it as the picture of William’s face floated before me once again, I will be a liar if I said he wasn’t a handsome man, it was just a pity that he was a complete ass, an ass I had to work with for the next six months. A loud sigh escaped my lips as I thought of how just how long the coming months were going to be. *********************** William’s POV It was almost mid night when I got home, Richard had dragged me clubbing and we had ended up staying longer than planned and Richard had ended up getting completely wasted like the party boy that he was. I had to call his driver to come and take him home before I finally left the club. I went straight to my room, everyone was probably asleep by now, I was usually the last person to come home every night, mum was an early sleeper so she was never awake when I came back. I pushed the door open and stepped in, I was surprised to find my mum sitting on the sofa with a cup of tea in her hand and a woolen shawl wrapped around her shoulders. “You are finally back, I was getting tired of waiting for you” she said to me with a smile, “Why are you still up?” I said and I sat down beside her and placed a kiss on her cheek, I loosened my tie and relaxed into the sofa. “I waiting for you, I wanted to talk to you about something important” she said and placed her cup on the glass table with a soft click. I had a feeling I knew what she wanted to talk about and honestly I was in no mood for it but I said nothing “What do you want to talk about mum?” I simply said, “I wanted to talk to you about Amanda and this whole marriage affair, I know you told me that you will try to give it a shot but I know you, I know you will say anything to please me, I really want you to give Amanda a chance to do her job, they say she is really good and what she does, just do this with an open mind and I can assure you will be glad you did” she said, her warm eyes staring deep into mine. The mention of that infuriating woman’s name brought back the memory from earlier today and I felt my anger bubble to the surface, that woman made me absolutely mad, how was I supposed to look at her with an open mind when she made me so mad? I cleared my throat and said “I will try my best to work with Miss Collins so that we can conclude this business quickly” My mum gave a soft laughter and said “Business? You speak like we are discussing a business deal, I am talking about getting you married to a nice young woman that will make you happy” “But really mum, no one does arranged marriages these days, it’s not like we are in the 80s or something” I said, Mum simply shrugged and said “I have always preferred old fashioned things” With that she stood up and placed a gentle kiss on my head “I should get some sleep now, it’s way past my bed time, good night William” “Good night mum, sweet dreams” I said with a small smile, “You too dear” she said with a smile of her own and she was gone leaving me alone with my thoughts. I didn’t want to get married and even if I decided to give the entire affair a try, there was no way I could work with a woman as maddening as Amanda Collins, I couldn’t work with a woman who made me angry all the time, just thinking about her now was already making me very angry, I will make sure to show her the error of her ways tomorrow, she couldn’t just yell at me and think she could get away with it. No one messes with William Knight and got away with it.
