Let's get deceitful

William's POV

I wondered what the hell it was that gave this woman the guts to speak to me the way she did, this was the second time she was talking to me in this manner, I kept my steady glare on her and she did not seem fazed by it.

She was a strong woman, I will give her that but I was most definitely stronger than she was, I was going to make that she regretted ever taking this job or speaking to me the way she had done.

I just had to make sure she left on her own and I was going to give her all the encouragement she needed to leave on her own, that way mum could not blame me for her leaving and I will still end up getting rid of her.

With that thought in my mind, I gently stood up from my chair and smoothened my pants as I did, a smile that had never failed to win the heart of any woman suddenly spread across my face, I saw the surprise settled in her eyes but she stood her ground.

"You are right, I should take this more seriously, you are just doing your job after all" I said, my voice calm and gentle, my killer smile was fixed in place.

She was looking at me with a mixture of distrust and surprise but I could also see that with just a little more probbing, she was going to fall into my trap.

"I may not expect you to understand what it feels like to be forced into a marriage you do not want, it may just be a contract for you but this is my life, I will have to marry a woman I barely know and live with her for the rest of my life" I said making sure to infuse a little bit of emotion in to my voice to make my words sound believable.

I turned away from her and stuffed my hands into my pockets, I walked over to the full glass windows and stared at the busy city below.

I had a smug smile on my face, I counted mentally to 10, she was definitely going to say something now.

I was at 8 when she said "I am sorry and you are right, this is just a contract to me but in the end it's your life"

A broad smile spread across my face, I had her exactly where I wanted her.

I heard footsteps behind me and the next thing I felt was a gentle touch on my arm.

I was surprised by the unexpected warmth that spread all over my arm, I stepped away from her touch and turned to look at her, I realized for the first time that she was several inches shorter than I was.

"Sorry I did not mean to scare you" she said with a small smile on her face.

"It's okay, I was not really scared, just surprised" I answered.

"I know that you don't like the idea of an arranged marriage but I promise you, I am very good at what I do and I assure you I will find you the best woman out there, you just have to trust me and I promise I can make this work" she said as she looked up at me with a smile.

This was easier than I initially planned but all the same.

I gave her a smile and then said "Fine let's make this work, I will trust you with this"

I saw the triumph and glee explode in her eyes, perhaps if she had looked closer, she may have seen my own celebration as well, she was completely in my trap now and there was absolutely no one who could save her from me.

Amanda’s POV

I returned home with a smile on my face, I was pretty sure I had a bounce to my step, I felt like I had accomplished something spectacular.

William Knight had actually surrendered and agreed to work with me, I was completely over the moon right now, who would have thought that the arrogant bastard actually a heart? He had even given me his ideal woman profile, it was a bit over the top but I was very sure I could do it, there was nothing I could not do.

“You look excited, did something good happen?” Jessie said to me as I dropped on to the sofa beside her.

“Yep, something good actually happened, turns out William Knight is not really a bastard in the end, he actually has a tiny little heart when you look very very deep” I said with a broad smile on my face.

“Wow, you seem to have a different opinion from the one you had yesterday sis” Jessie said with a grin.

“Well he acted like a completely arrogant bastard yesterday but he was not so bad today” I said while shrugging my shoulders.

“Well just be careful with him Amanda, they say he is a really ruthless person” Jessie said.

I gave her a smile then I said “I am supposed to be the big sister here and so, I am supposed to give you such advice”

She gave me a cheeky grin and said “Well let’s just say I am better and giving advice than you are”

I laughed and said “You are way too smart for your own good missy”

She laughed and simply hugged me.

We stayed like that for a while then she said “Please be careful sis, I do not want to see you get hurt, people like William Knight can be very ruthless”

I smiled and then pulled away from her so that I could look into her eyes “Do not worry about me Jessie, your big sister is not afraid of some rich mama’s boy, I am not going to let William Knight do anything to me, if he tries anything, I am going to give him a piece of my mind or perhaps I could send you to him and then you can teach him a really good lesson on how to behave himself” I said.

Jessie laughed and said “Yeah we can do that”

I hugged her once again and said “You don’t need to worry about me, I will be just fine”

She nodded against my shoulder and said “I know you will be, you always are”
