Chapter 8Late Summer 2002
Kela threw me a huge 21st birthday party and everyone that I knew cared about me was there. Brandon had a custom-made Chanel purse birthday cake made for me. Earlier that day I had spoken to both my mom and brother, who called me wishing me a happy birthday. My mom had her cellmate who sang in the prison’s church choir sing to me. The woman’s voice was beautiful, and it brought me to tears. I laughed as I listen to my mom describe giving birth to me. How she prayed that she had a beautiful daughter who looked just like her. The lord granted her wish, I was her blue eye princess, even though Kela likes to call me the “Blue Eye Devil”.
