The car's engine idled like a held breath. Lyle parked near the side gate and killed the lights. “I'll walk you to the curb," he said. “Cameras don't cover that strip." “I can walk," Olivia said. “I know," Lyle said. “But I can still walk with you." She nodded. He opened her door. Night air hit her face—cool, rinsed clean by the earlier rain. She stepped out and adjusted the strap of her bag. The service gate clicked behind them.
