After much reconciliation between a mother and her daughter, all that was left was to bring peace to their lost loved one. Karen decided that the only way her daughter would be properly laid to rest was if the mystery of her death was solved. It was as this moments that the suspects were cleaning up their mess and fixing loose ends. At least that was what Karen thought. She had to be quicker and smarter.
A plan was made between a mother and a daughter. A plan to become secrets detectives and solve this mystery. Karen was determined but one can't be sure about Annette. Annette wanted to get updated so that she could plan her moves carefully. She did not want trouble.
Karen wanted to go and talk to Josh but Annette offered instead.
"Will you manage dear?" As usual, Karen was concerned.
"Of course. Trust me when I tell you that Josh would rather open up to me than you." Such a big lie. All she wanted was to see him one more time.
"Fine then. Suck as much information from him as you can and bring me all the details."
Annette drove towards Josh's house and stopped on the way to buy him a gift. She really could not explain what she was feeling. She couldn't tell if she was happy to see and speak to Josh again. Or maybe she was thrilled to see him so that she could give him a peace of her mind, something that she could have done a long time ago.
Whatever it was, she would figure it out when she got to his house.
She finally arrived at Josh's home. The last time she was at his house, she threw a broken glass at his face. Luckily, it did not scratch his eyes although that was where she was aiming at. Wicked minded.
She got out of the car with the box in her hand and closed the door with a loud bang. Her anger was back. She swayed towards the door and raised her arm to press the door bell.
Annette thought that the first face to see would be that of Josh. Instead the first face she saw was that of his glamorous sister, Flora. She was dressed in a short black dress with a red belt tied around her tiny waist. She scanned Annette from top to down then back up and stopped at her eyes.
"Long time no see Ann. Now what drama do you bring here today?" She rolled her eyes.
"I just came to...."
"Oh my where are my manners? My condolences for the loss of your sister." Flora interrupted.
Annette smiled or rather forced out a smile. "Thanks. Is Josh in? I want to talk to him."
"Of course come in." She pointed inside the house with her arm and let out a fake smile too. Flora told Annette to make herself comfortable as she went upstairs to get her brother. Annette scanned the sophisticated house taking in all the richness. It smelled money just like her father's house which she was not allowed to live in unless she does what the man of the house wanted.
When Josh arrived, Annette barely noticed him. He stared at her as if he had seen Annabelle in her. The two sisters looked almost alike. Both of them had a dark complexion but Annabelle had lighter skin than her sister. Annabelle physical features were more pronounced and had always put on a genuine smile on her face.
Josh took another step and Annette noticed him. He was still the same handsome looking young man he had once fallen in love with. She still is. She stood up and walked to where he was.
"Josh, long time no see. You didn't expect to see me, did you?"
"Annette. It has been long since we spoke. My condolences for the loss of your sister. Bella was such a nice girl." Josh said softly.
"Bella? That's what you called her?" Annette sounded surprised to hear Josh had a special name for her sister, Annabelle. "You must be missing her. I can't imagine how hard it must be to loose a lover. Oh wait, I can." She had her sarcastic tone.
Josh decided to ignore the sarcasm. "What do you want Ann?"
"I came to talk to you about Annabelle. I mean Bella." Josh was almost rolling his eyes for her sarcastic nature.
"What about her?" He asked.
"Josh, for some reason I don't believe that Annabe....Bella died because she was sick. I think she was killed."
Killed? That got him by surprise. In his head he was wondering where Annette got that idea. He knew that she could get crazy at times but this was another level of craziness.
"Where did you get such an idea? Ann, if you are here for another reason just say it. Don't use your sister as an excuse. Okay?"
"Someone sounds mad. Relax babe." She stepped closed to him and wrapped her arms around his neck. She had lowered her voice. She remembered that once Josh used to call her voice sexy.
Whatever she expected did not work because Josh removed her arms from his neck and pulled her out of the house. Annette got furious and the next thing he heard was her punching on the door loudly, screaming her heart out. She clenched her jaws and swallowed the lump in her throat. She then threw another punch on the door sending a screaming pain in her veins.
The woman could break her hand and Josh knew that but did not care. She once jumped out of a window from first floor to have his attention.
Once Annette was gone, Flora went back downstairs to his brother.
"What did your crazy ex of a girlfriend want?"
Josh was holding a glass in his hands. He tighten his grip as lines formed on his dark forehead. His eyes turned red and he turned to look at his sister, danger written all over his face.
"We need to fix loose ends, she may know."
