Chapter 2: Marking the Edge

Chapter 2: Marking the Edge Evelyn's body still stood stiffly on the contract ceremony platform. The silver light of the "Moon God Seal" slowly faded, and finally disappeared into the skin under her collarbone, as if it had never appeared. The whole hall was dead silent. The face of the Beta priest was pale, and the divine book in his hand quietly slipped to the ground. He said in a hoarse voice: "This... This is a mark that only the direct bloodline of the ancient Silver Moon can have... She can't be an ordinary slave at all!" "Report to the Council immediately-" "Enough." Killian raised his hand to interrupt, and an irresistible pressure swept the whole place. His voice was not loud, but it seemed to come from the depths of his soul, carrying the natural command authority of Alpha. He looked at Evelyn steadily: "From now on, she is my legal contract partner. There is no need to explain her bloodline to anyone." The priest was sweating profusely, but he could only bow his head and respond: "As you command... Sir Alpha." --- After the ceremony, Evelyn was taken back to the top floor of the main tower of the Veles Mansion. This is the place closest to the sky in Silver Claw City, but it is also the most deserted. The whole space is as cold as iron, without any warmth. She sat on a leather bench deep in the room, her wedding dress was still on her body, and there were still silver embers left on her cheeks during the ceremony. Killian stood in front of her, his expression calm, but his eyes examined every inch of her skin like a sharp blade. "You knew you were not an ordinary slave, right?" Evelyn lowered her eyes and said nothing, her fingers unconsciously tightening the hem of her skirt. "The Silver Moon Mark only exists in the oldest wolf bloodline and has not reappeared in a hundred years... Are you a descendant of a hidden clan?" She finally looked up, with a hint of coldness in her eyes: "You married me, didn't you, just for a 'mark compatible body'? Now that I have a vision, shouldn't you be happy?" "I don't like being calculated." Killian's tone was low, with a strong sense of oppression, "If you dare to hide it, I can tear up the contract immediately." "Tear it up?" She sneered, "You and I have completed the oath, and the contract seal has been formed. Unless I die, you can't tear it up." The air solidified instantly. A dangerous light flashed in Killian's eyes, but he didn't do anything. He stared at her, and after a while, he said coldly: "From tomorrow, you move to the master bedroom." "What?" Evelyn frowned. "As a contract partner, you must accept Alpha's mark. Before the formal mark, I need to observe the changes in your pheromones and evaluate the controllability." He leaned over, close to her ear, and whispered: "You should be thankful that I don't plan to 'mark' you for the time being." Before he finished speaking, Evelyn felt a burning sensation in her neck, as if an electric current was running along her spine. She was shocked to find that she was actually affected by his breath - she was just close to him, but the pheromone reaction was like a suppressed flame, instantly spreading throughout her body. "What did you do to me?!" Killian narrowed his eyes and raised the corners of his lips slightly: "You are too sensitive to react, which is a manifestation of unstable pheromones." He suddenly reached out, pinched her chin, and forced her to look at him: "But, you like this... are quite interesting." --- As night fell, Evelyn lay alone on the cold master bedroom bed, with the white moonlight of the Alpha Tower outside the window. She looked at the ceiling, recalling the sudden "awakening" during the day, and Killian's gray eyes. "The Willers family... Silver Claw City... Parliament..." A cold light flashed in her eyes, and she whispered to herself: "Do you think I am just a bride who passively accepts the contract? Killian Willers, you will regret starting this marriage." Her fingertips moved slightly, and the silver needle hidden in the ring slipped out quietly. She was never a prey, but a hunter in disguise.
