Sora Is Kissing Me

1805 Words
Kade Shadow is a beautiful crier, that’s all I can think about crouched watching her splutter over my i***t brother. And the fact that Cameron is just as blind as he was eight years ago. “Your girlfriend?” Her tears dry up instantly, “No. You’ve known me for what? Twenty minutes?” I shrug, “A little closer to ten.” She raises her brows, gaping at me like I just said the stupidest s**t in the world. “This isn’t helping your case, Mr. Black.” I bite my lip, trying and failing to stop the smile forming on my face. God, she’s as adorable as they come. “Strange,” I say. “I don’t remember being Mr. Black when you were pressed against my side calling me babe.” A long, suffering sigh leaves shadow and she drags both hands down her face. “I needed your help to save face.” I clap my hands. “Bingo, it’s my turn. I need your help.” Her head tilts to the side, and I can feel my heart summersault in its confinement. She’s hands down one of the prettiest, sexiest, most beautifully attractive women I’ve ever seen and it beats me how my brother managed to friend zone her for this long. “My help?” she asks, plopping back onto the pavement. “Help with what?” “Have you seen the tabloids? There's a rumor going around that I'm gay. Me? f*****g gay?” She squints at me. “Well, are you?” “f**k. No,” I say. “No offense to the gays, but I happen to enjoy soft, feminine, succulent women.” “There are effeminate men if that’s your preference.” I stare at her, she’s not implying what I think she is, right? “Did you just suggest I broaden my horizons?” “You sounded concerned about your lack of options.” Christ, I can’t help laughing, this is turning out more progressive than I thought it would, she’s no longer crying and even cracking jokes. I should pat myself on the back, but Jackson swears that makes me a “bloody wanker”. f*****g hate the Brits. “Jesus Christ.” “What?” “Nothing.” I shake my head. “You're just a lot funnier than I remember.” “Not any funnier than the man asking a near-stranger to be his girlfriend.” “Near-stranger?” I repeat. “Shadow, I watched you follow Cameron around for half your childhood.” A glare immediately lands on me. “Don't call me that.” “What? Shadow?” “Yes.” “No.” She shifts on the pavement, folding her arms into each other, “why do you even call me that?” “I already told you. You followed Cameron for half your childhood, and you still do. That’s a shadow-like behavior, isn’t it?” Her face turns a dark shade of red, before she stands up, tucking at my sleeves to get me up with her. “Okay what the f**k is your problem!?” Aha, we are back here to freaking square zero. I’m about to answer when she shoves me so hard I almost do not kiss the floor with my butt. “Currently? Your attitude.” I answer, picking myself from the floor, brushing off dirt from my trousers. “Look, I appreciate you playing along in there but that’s that. I’m not going to be your girlfriend. Not now, not ever.” I place a hand over my chest, bending over wincing in pain. Sora runs over to me, “Are you okay?” I shake my head, leaning into her touch on my arm as she helps me up. “How can I be okay when you just outrightly rejected me.” It takes her a moment but she realizes what I mean and immediately lets go of me, once again making me kiss the floor with my butt. Two to zero, yes I’m keeping scores. Instead of getting up, I lay down, plopping my hands as a pillow. “Say yes.” She lets out a groan. “Get up, and stop being a kid.” “How about a hard no. I need you. I need your help.” “No.” “Okay, picture this… you somehow break up with me right after the engagement party, Cam might be slow to your feelings for him but this would just make Daisy win.” She pauses, looking down on me then ruffles her beautiful curly hair muttering something under her breath. “That’s not enough to pull me in.” “Then let’s make a bet, you manage to break their relationship in three months. I pay you handsomely, might I add. And if you’re unable to then baby, we are never breaking up.” She stares at me for a brief moment before falling over in fits of laughter. I dust myself from the floor now, frowning at her. “What’s so funny?” She pauses, looks at me trying to hold back her laugh. “Oh you’re serious?” “Of course I am serious.” “Why’d I indulge in such a silly thing?” I pinch the bridge of my nose, fighting the urge to put her in her place. At first, it was cute, adorable even but now she’s being so freaking infuriating and that’s one thing I f*****g hate about minions, their lack of ability to think for themselves. It’s evident the only thing working in her head right now is how she’s going to explain the situation further without hurting Cameron. “You’re in love with Cameron, he’s in a relationship with a gold digger. And I’ll be helping you destroy said relationship by being your fake boyfriend.” I point out, “What do you not understand?” “Why are you speaking to me like that?” She pouts, her lower lip stretching out and those freaking almond eyes blinking up at me. “Because you’re acting—” “Sora!!” Someone, more clearly a man yells from behind us and I don’t need to turn back to know it’s my foolish brother. Without a second though my hands circle around her pulling her close to me, tightening her grip around her waist. “You’re still here?” He looks at me with disdain, and I don’t really give a s**t what he thinks. “Can you give us a minute?” I look at a dumb Sora, her pouty eyes are watering just by the sight of this douche. “Not really.” “You’re being a pain!” He says, fist clenching by his sides. “I just need to talk to my best friend in private.” “From what I’ve seen your girlfriend, sorry fiancée won’t be okay with that and I don’t want to upset my girlfriend.” “What do you want Cam?” Sora whispers weakly, God, she was truly a goner for him. She leaves my arm, squeezing at it before walking towards Cam. “I’ll be back in a jiffy.” I watch the both of them move to another bench far enough for me to hear them but close to reach for Sora. Eight years feels like nothing when all you’re thinking about is plotting revenge on everyone who caused your downfall and almost ruined your life. The two loverbirds look like they’re having a squabble and I contemplate whether or not to interrupt, but it doesn’t look like Sora needs my help for anything. I text the boys GC because why the f**k not, it is boring watching the girl you’re trying to date convince the man she loves that the woman he loves is a cheater. See? BORING. Cocky Boys ;) Me: Who’s got a bag big enough to fit a human and a getaway car? My text barely sends when Toney responds. Toney: Just a day where you don’t send an incriminating text to the f*****g gc. Jackson: Can a plastic bag work? @Shawn has the contact of some guys in the suburbs. Toney: Don’t encourage him! Me: I knew I could count on you, Son. Me: By the way, f**k you Toney. Jackson: so… is there a body? I smile, looking over at Sora whose hand keeps flanneling, sure looks visibly upset. Me: A certain, black haired girl with white streaks at the front of her hair. Toney: You mean your manager? I chuckled, Toney always the great comedian. Getting contracted under Sora wasn’t sheer coincidence or pure luck. I don’t have those, unfortunately. I pitched with the company I worked with to make sure she got hired and made her my new acting manager, while the old one was still in “recovering”. Me: She’s hot. I type simply, these men have known me longer than my own family has. And they know I didn’t come back just for the thrill of the dirt. Jackson: We aren’t kidnapping your manager, period. I snort, smart man. My attention drifts back to Shadow just in time to see her tear herself from Cameron. Hm… I’m guessing the fight is still on. Can’t believe Cameron is handing her over so easily to me. A little too easy. She storms across the courtyard looking like she’s seconds away from committing a felony. “Uh-oh.” I mutter, tucking my phone in my pocket, while I wait for either berating or nagging. Sora stands right in front of me, arms crossed and chests heaving. “God, he’s so stupid.” She mutters, pacing the length of our side, I hold her by the shoulders, steadying her enough to make her look my way. “Breathe.” Her lids bats, then widen. “Are you still offering that fake relationship?” My brows shoot up. “I told you I needed–” The words die in my throat when Sora suddenly steps into my space, the anger in her eyes drowning into something entirely different. Her hands are around my neck in the next seconds and I can feel my brain freezing from the sheer act. "What the—" I don't even get the words out. Sora yanks me down to her height with surprising strength, her curls brushing my jaw as she rises onto her toes. For the first time since I've known her, Shadow isn't looking at Cameron, she’s looking at me. Those ridiculous green eyes burn with frustration, hurt, and enough reckless determination to make me nervous. Then her lips crash against mine, biting my lower lips for entrance and that kills coherent thought running through my head. Sora… is… kissing… me.
