One More Shouldn’t Hurt

Kade “Shadow,” I grit out, my composure slipping out of my grip. “There’s another room right down the hall, I need you to stay there tonight.” Sora doesn’t make any move to leave the room, her eyes stay trained on my lips, wild. I clench my fist trying to hold on to some ounce of resistance. “No,” she whispers, finally dragging her gaze from my mouth to my eyes. “Why do you want me to leave?” Because if you don’t, I’m not sure I’d be able to hold back from pouncing on you, and the last thing I want to do is scare you shitless, is what I want to say but I just do what I know how to do best. I stay f*****g quiet. “No you’re not,” Her voice cuts through my thoughts, and I pause, what the f**k? Can she hear what I’m thinking? I scrub a hand down my face and let out a laugh that sounds more strained than amused. I’m holding back lesser and lesser now. “Shadow, for a woman who’s supposed to be smart, you’re asking some incredibly stupid questions.” Her brows pull together instantly. “Then give me an answer.” “But I just did.” “No, you’re deflecting there’s a difference.” Christ. My gaze drops to her mouth again and that turns out to be a mistake, her lower lip is puckering out, pink and– The room closes around me almost suffocating and the only thing filling my nostrils is her scent. “Sora,” I say slowly, “I am giving you one last chance to save yourself. So please for the sake of whatever you believe in leave before I forget every gentlemanly lesson my mother ever tried to teach me.” Sora’s throat bobs, then her lips spread into a forced smile. “Oh.” I’m already turning around to give her space to leave when her hands clasp around my wrist. “Go on ahead, today has been one ball of terrible decisions, one more shouldn’t hurt, right?” Her fingers are warm around my wrist, too f*****g steady like she’s the one anchoring me instead of the other way around. I freeze mid-turn, every muscle in my body locking up as her words sink in. I should be livid she sees me as a f*****g terrible decision, but fuckkk me, I love how aware she is of our present. Accepting to be my girlfriend was her first step into losing herself and falling into my dark pit-formed world. A laugh rips out of me, low and rough, because if she only knew how badly I waited to hear her say something like that. “You’re going to regret saying that, Shadow.” “Am I?” Her voice is softer now, but there’s a spark of challenge in it. She steps closer, close enough that her chest brushes my arm, and that damned scent of hers, wraps around me like a trap I don’t want to escape. I turn fully to face her, crowding her space until her back hits the edge of the dresser. My hands find her hips before she tries to back out of this new challenge, gripping just hard enough to feel the give of her body under my palms. “Yes, princess. I’m going to make this terrible decision, one you’d crave every passing second.” Sora’s breath catches, but she doesn’t pull away. Instead, she tilts her head up, those wild eyes locking onto mine with a mischievous glint. “I didn’t think you had such thoughts running through your head about me,” her fingers glides down my chest, “Tell me what you plan to do.” I lean in, letting my lips hover just above hers, teasing us both. “You really want the list? Because it starts with me kissing that smart mouth of yours until you forget how to argue, and it ends with you moaning my name so loud you lose your voice.” I refrain from mentioning the part where I f**k the thoughts of Cameron out of her, but god be damned, will I be tagged a f*****g psycho for thinking of ways to rid my brother out of his best friend’s life? Yes. Do I care? f**k no. Her cheeks flush, but she laughs—a bright, surprised sound that shoots straight to my c**k. “What if I’m the one who makes you moan first?” Fuck. That does it. I close the last inch and kiss her like I’ve been starving for it. It’s not gentle. It’s heat and teeth and hunger snapping like a live wire. Sora makes this little surprised noise against my mouth that turns into a hum of approval, her hands sliding up my chest and fisting in my hair pressing me closer to her. I lift her onto the dresser in one smooth motion, stepping between her thighs so I can press closer. My hands roam down her sides, over the curve of her ass, back up to tangle in her hair. She tastes much better than our first kiss, so f*****g sweet. When I nip at her bottom lip, she gasps and arches into me, her legs wrapping around my waist like it’s the most natural thing in the world. “See?” I murmur against her mouth, grinning as I trail kisses along her jaw. “Your terrible decision’s feel pretty f*****g good.” “Shut up and keep going,” she breathes, tugging me back to her lips. I chuckle darkly, but I obey because I’m not about to waste a single second. My hand slips under the hem of her shirt, fingertips brushing warm, smooth skin. She shivers, and the sound she makes when I palm her breast is going to live rent-free in my head forever. “Bed,” she whispers, nipping at my ear like a f*****g cat, I stop using my brain to function for a couple of seconds. I don’t need to be told twice. I scoop her up, her legs still locked around me, and carry her a few steps to the bed. We tumble down together in a mess of limbs and laughter, her hair fanning out across the pillow like dark silk. I hover over her, taking in the sight—flushed cheeks, swollen lips, eyes bright with the same reckless want that’s burning through me. “Last chance to back out, Shadow.” Sora grabs the front of my shirt and yanks me down until our noses brush. “Kade,” she says, voice husky and full of promise, “if you don’t f**k me in the next ten seconds, I’ll become very much violent.” I grin, wide and wicked. “Yes, ma’am.”
