I rush down the hall, straightening the tie on my Armani suit. There's a video conference in less than 10 minutes with the other branches of the council around the world. I get to the conference room and take a seat directly across from Chairperson Roberts. The lights dim and up on the wall of monitors the other sites come on. England, Japan, Egypt, Peru their monitors flicker before the council members of those regions come into focus.

“I call to order this meeting” Chairperson Roberts says. He is greeted by a chorus of hello’s. “So on to the business at hand. It has been brought to my attention that the dessert moon pack has some visitors in the form of Alpha by birth Bishop Monroe of the Snow Mountain pack and his friend a beta bear by the name of Thomas Drummond. Apparently, Mr. Drummond is the mate to a Juliet Vonn and has taken the position of gamma couple to the pack. My surveillance has also noted that Alpha Monroe has been seen coming in and out of Alpha Romero home recently.” “I see” the head of the Japan Branch said. A tall and commanding vampire by the name li Cheng. “Do we know if Alpha Romero found her fated mate yet or even taken a chosen mate?” he asked. “By all accounts No. But this Alpha Bishop just might be the in we are looking for. If she takes him as her chosen mate, then she’ll have to step down as alpha. That will be the opening we need to search the pack for the panther.”

I look around as everyone nods in agreement. The council is made up of the strongest and oldest supernatural’s in the world. Each branch holds 2 executive members. Here in Washington Dc our head is Chairperson Roberts an old and manipulative wolf from a coastal pack out in California. Each branch is head by a different supernatural Japan has the Vampire Cheng. England a witch by the name of Esmeralda. Peru has a Bear shifter by the name of Bronn and Egypt is run by a man called Thoth he is the oldest of them all and no one knows exactly what he is. They just know not to f***k with him.

“Well,” Chairperson Thoth said, “any other news on Desert Moon have any of the hybrid couples produced any promising off springs?” “No, it seems the damn gods are purposely keeping the hybrid children of the pack only having one dominate species trait. If a witch and a wolf or bear mate the girl children are the only ones to inherit witch powers. while the boys are given a wolf or bear spirit. If a bear and a wolf mate it’s a toss-up on which child gets which spirit but never has a child received both.” “It seems us letting them procreate has been for naught.” I said “we should have destroyed that damn pack from the beginning” Esmeralda said. “it’s an abomination mixing the species like that.” “I agree with you” said Bronn “but what’s done is done.” “I could have sworn we would have had a handful of hybrid personal by now.” Chairperson Roberts said as he shook his head. “That is beside the point now. any news on the blessed wolf” Thoth asked. my ears instantly perk up. “Well, it seems we have narrowed it down to a blood line.” Roberts said, “It seems the king line might be the ones holding the blessed wolf this time around.” “I see so either the Alphas Dion and Deacon King or their cousin Declan King.” Esmeralda said. “Yes, that is what we surmised” Roberts replied. “Isn’t Declan the Alpha of your long-forgotten pack Roberts” Thoth asked. “Yes he is the current Alpha to Ocean Groove.” “Well maybe it might be time to send an investigator over to the pack to see.” “Yes, we could do that, or we can send one of the silent five to do surveillance first.” “Isn’t one of the five currently surveilling Desert Moon?” “Yes but.” “No buts I like to keep them all on separate continents. No need for that parliament to come together. We eradicated all of that species except for them. No need to bring them together.” “As you wish Thoth” Roberts grumbled. “Esmeralda dear” Cheng said, “any word on the oracle.” “None have been born yet.” “Good, good that means the gods are still blind to our plans.”

Li Cheng has been around for centuries; he’s almost 1000 years old. He has witnessed the eradication of several shifter species by order of the council. When the council and world were young there was every shifter in the world imaginable. Dragons, eagle, bear, Wolf, Panther, Lions, Tigers, owls, etc. Slowly but surely the council massacred them all leaving only a few of them to work for the council. while bears and wolves populate the world. The lone Panther shifter has eluded them for years. But we have reliable sources telling us that she lives within desert moon pack territory, we just need to confirm it and capture her again. They want her as an assassin. I look around the room and back to the screens Cheng and Esmeralda are talking about the demon wolf.

“Demon wolf?” I asked. All eyes turn to me. “Yes, the demon wolf or hell hound. He is said to rise during the time of the blessed wolf.” Esmeralda said. “But the past 2 generations we have found and killed the blessed wolf before he could ever encounter the hell hound.” I just nod and go back to taking notes. “Well, if that is all I say we plan the visit to desert moon within the next month or so. Give this budding romance of Alpha Romero time to bloom hopefully this Alpha Monroe is more accommodating than Romero and give us the full access we need to the pack that Romero have been denying us.” Thoth said. All the council members agreed then clicked off their monitors one by one. Once we were alone in the conference room Chairperson Roberts turned to me. “Get a hold of Jian” “But sir Chairperson Thoth.” “f***k him and do as I say, or I can send you back to being an investigator I saw potential in you don’t make me question my choice Amaris.” “Yes, sir I will locate Jian.” I said as I left the conference room headed toward my office.

I spent the better part of these 2 weeks researching trying to find information about Cj’s mate Bishop. I know Rainbow knows more than what she is telling me. But as an oracle her hands are tied by the laws of the gods on what she can and can’t tell. I been researching all the text within the coven and even calling some of my friends in Louisiana and Ireland. But it was a rare book collector in the bowery section of New York city who had what I was looking for. It was a simple scroll lost to the supernatural world over time. It told the story of deceit, love and redemption. I was convinced that it told Bishop’s story. I called Cj and scheduled a meeting with her and Bishop not knowing if this should be shared with others. Considering Cj is a blessed wolf and well if I am correct about Bishop then they will be targets of the world council. According to my contacts in the council they are already aware of Juliets mate as well as bishop being here. I need to protect my girls no matter what. But first things first confirming Bishop’s identity. The next day I was up bright and early headed to the pack house with the scroll tucked away in my carpet bag. I did my signature greeting to all I passed but was very much aware of needing to get to Cj’s office fast. Once I arrived at the office, I was surprised to find not only Cj and Bishop but Nola, Papa D, Tony, Juliet, Thomas, and my very own child Rainbow. I just looked and stared at everyone in attendance. I thought this was only going to be us I asked Cj and Bishop. Well, you said it was about Bishop, so I just thought it was better to get everything out in the open. I shrugged and took my seat in front of Cj’s desk. I looked over at Rainbow giving her the look she just coyly smiled at me and nodded. That was all the proof I needed that she knew what I was about to drop on them.

“Well as you know Cj I have been researching your mate here.” “Researching me why?” Bishop asked. “Well young man you are a special wolf am I right.” He just looked at me with no emotions on his beautiful face. “No need to answer I believe I already know.” Already know what he asked. “Have you ever heard of the story The Hellhound and the Blessed Wolf” I asked. Everyone in the office just looked at me like I was crazy. “Hellhounds like demon dogs of the underworld controlled by demon’s” bishop asked me. “One and the same” I said. “There is a story one lost to time of how hellhounds came to walk among us.” Everyone in the room laughed except me Rainbow and Bishop. Cj once she noticed just quirked her eyebrow at us. “Go on” she said. I reached down to my giant Carpet bag purse and pulled out a bronze scroll sleeve. I looked over at Rainbow, her eyes were hooded, and I couldn’t see them. Cj just leaned more into her desk as bishop was at the edge of his seat as I pulled out the scroll and began to read its story.

The Story

It started during the 1000-year war. When the Gods roamed the earth freely interacting with their chosen children. Before the world supernatural council was formed. All species walked the earth and ruled themselves. Humans, Fae, Mer-people and Animal shifters. The world was young and there were shifters of every species roaming the land. Dragon, werewolf, bear, panther, tiger, lion, owl, crow, and eagle. A greedy Alpha wolf wanted what he couldn’t have. He coveted an owl parliament’s land that bordered his, and his brother’s blessed wolf mate. So, in his greed he made a pact with a demon. What we would call a crossroads demon now. in exchange for the ability to get the owls land and the blessed wolf as his mate he sold his soul. Or so he thought. In actuality he sold his wolf spirit to the demon. The demon wanted nothing more than to feed on the wolf spirit agreed. He was able to get everything he wanted, the land and the mate. But the moon goddess seeing this was enraged. She descended to hell, spoke to the demon, and made a pact of her own. Selene then removed his brothers’ mate bond and made it so that he was only able to keep the land and mate for 10yrs. At the end of the 10yrs the demon came back to collect his due. The Alpha, not understanding why his deal was cut short, tried to fight the demon. but was denied access to his wolf spirit by the moon goddess, because it was no longer his. It was owned by the demon on his own volition. The demon after 13 days of mental torture ended up killing the alpha and collecting his wolfs spirit as promised by the contract. But instead of keeping it to feed on, he felt pity for the creature that it had to suffer without a complete soul. Because of its human counterpart’s greed, it never got it’s fated mate completing its soul. So, the demon gave the wolf its freedom not feeding on it but tying its soul to the underworld making it the very first Hell hound. The goddess, seeing the act of kindness the demon bestowed on her child made it so that the hellhound could return to the earthly plain when a blessed wolf was born. It would be their protector and ally. This transaction between the goddess and the demon happened a total of 2 other times. Each time it was due to the greed of a wolf's human counterpart and each time the hell hound wolf spirit is given to a worthy soul. Though those hellhounds are strong, they were never as strong or given as much freedom as the first wolf. The greedy alphas brother, a second born alpha to the pack took over and Selene granted him his original fated blessed mate. The blessed wolf was never able to keep the greedy Alphas mark as she was not destined for him nor was, she ever able to get pregnant with the pups he wanted. To reward the brother’s faith in her and never straying from finding the other half of his soul. The Goddess Selene blessed his second born alpha son with the hellhound wolf spirit. Making him the protector and friend of a Blessed male wolf at the time. The Alpha couple brought prosperity back to the land and over the years various blessed wolves found their companions and allies with Hellhound wolves who were rotated from the hell realm to the earthly one. Throughout the years the story of the Hell Hound and the Blessed wolf was forgotten as well as the pack and lineage of that greedy Alpha wolf and the first Hellhound.

That was until now I looked directly at Bishop as I said this.
