Once we were discovered in that cave, we were taken back to the palace instead of returning to the camp, where we were supposed to stay for a few days during the hunt. It seemed that the event had been postponed after my father learned that we were missing. I had expected my father to come searching for us as soon as we didn't arrive at the camp in the evening, so I wasn't afraid that we wouldn't be able to return. My only fear was that Fredrick might find us before they did and harm Cornelius or both of us. I wanted to avoid that at all costs because I felt that I hadn't accomplished anything meaningful in my life.
