Chapter 3

The service provider took the card from me. His fingertip brushed against the wolf emblem engraved on its surface, and he instinctively leaned closer for a better look. The instant he recognized it, his pupils dilated. His voice rose uncontrollably. "Is this the symbol of the Witt Pack?" The crowd immediately erupted into commotion. Most of the reactions were filled with shock, and many people stretched their necks, desperately trying to see the card clearly. "Oh my God, the Witt Pack's black card. I've only seen it mentioned in ancient records." "Isn't that the legendary Wolf King family?" "How could this card be in her hand? Could she really be someone from the Witt Pack?" The Witt Pack's black card could only belong to direct descendants of the Wolf King bloodline. The person who held it had unrestricted access to the family's territorial assets. Kane's arm around Julie's waist slowly dropped. He stared at the card, a faint spark of excitement burning in his eyes. More than anyone else there, he understood exactly what this card meant. Julie noticed his reaction. She hurried over in her high heels, snatched the card from the service provider's hand, gave it a quick glance, and immediately raised her voice. "Fake! She's nothing but an orphan. Her adoptive father is homeless, and her adoptive mother is a drug addict. She doesn't even know who her real parents are. How could she possibly be from the Witt Pack? Look at her. Before she met the Alpha, she lived in a rented apartment, worked at a grocery store, and wore cheap discounted clothes. Would someone from the Witt Pack really live like that?" Julie threw a stack of documents onto the ground in front of everyone. The crowd went quiet for a moment before whispers started spreading again. "I heard the Witt Pack only has one daughter. She must have been raised like royalty. How could she have lived such a pathetic life?" "Then where did this card come from? Did she find it somewhere? Or did she steal it?" I looked at the documents scattered across the floor, a mocking smile appearing on my lips. The orphanage seal, my adoptive parents' signatures, and the identity records I had prepared for myself. Every page was genuine and impossible to deny. The children of the Wolf King family had to complete a separation trial after reaching adulthood, living without their family's protection. I had chosen to spend three years doing that. I had originally planned to reveal my true identity after the engagement ceremony. What a pity. Julie gripped the edges of the card with both hands and forced it downward with all her strength. The card bent, but it didn't break. She grabbed a knife from the table and stabbed it hard against the surface, the blade scraping across the card and leaving behind a deep mark. "See? The card is fake. The material isn't even right!" I reached out to take the card back, but Kane kicked me to the ground. "You knew I wanted to connect with the Witt Pack, so you deliberately made a fake card?" Broken glass covered the floor beneath me. More blood spilled from my wounds as I pushed myself up with my arms and slowly got back on my feet. I would make sure he paid back this blood debt. Kane looked at me with blatant disdain. "If you really can't afford to pay, why don't you take off that designer gown and use it to repay the debt?" The blood-stained gown was already worthless. He wasn't trying to recover the money. He only wanted to humiliate me. My face was swollen, and my body was drenched in champagne, but my spine remained straight. "Kane, you will pay for what you did to me today." He glanced at me with disgust and turned to the bodyguards behind him. "Help her take off the gown." I looked around. The hall was packed with guests. More than a dozen service providers watched with cold curiosity, and two bodyguards were approaching me. Not a single person was willing to step forward. I couldn't even leave this castle.
