Chapter 4

I suddenly lunged at Kane and pulled my phone from his pocket. But before I could even unlock the screen, Kane tore it away from me and threw it onto the floor. The screen cracked into countless pieces. "Stop wasting our time!" He tossed aside the coat I had touched, as if it had been stained by something disgusting. The bodyguards immediately forced me down. I clenched my fists and stared at them. "Let me go now. Otherwise, there will be dire consequences." The entire hall went quiet for a moment before bursting into laughter. "Hahaha, did you hear that? She's actually threatening the Alpha." "This is a mental illness called desperate delusion. She needs help!" Julie laughed so hard she could barely stand straight. "Dire consequences? Does she really think she's someone from the Witt Pack?" Kane lowered his eyes slightly. "Even if I let you go, what could you possibly do? No one here will help you. Taking your life would be easier than crushing an ant." My eyes burned red as I stared at him. "Really? Then do you dare make a bet with me?" "What kind of bet?" "I bet that within 10 minutes, someone will enter through that door carrying $8 million and pay everything for me." "Fine." His voice was casual, as if he was humoring a child playing a ridiculous game. "What will I get if you lose?" "If I lose, you can deal with me however you want. But if I win, all of you will admit that you were wrong." His brows twitched slightly. "You've already lost." Julie pulled out her phone, opened the timer, and held it up in front of me. "The countdown starts now!" Kane looked at me with nothing but contempt. "You're a nobody with no family and no backing. Who would come here to pay your debt? Don't fool yourself." Kane wasn't the only one who thought I was insane. Even the guests found my words ridiculous. "The Alpha has already abandoned her. Who would be stupid enough to give her money?" "She could have avoided all this if she had simply apologized earlier." Everyone treated my bet as a joke, certain that I would never be able to pay. Following Kane's silent signal, the service providers stepped closer and surrounded me. "Nora, this isn't going anywhere. Please make the payment now." "If you really can't pay, then we can only handle this ourselves." The cameras were still recording, their red lights glowing. The entire scene was being broadcast live. I pushed my way in front of the camera. "Everyone from the Witt Pack, listen carefully. Bring $8 million here. Lock down this entire castle in 10 minutes!" The second those words left my mouth, the banquet hall erupted with wild laughter. "Oh my God, has she completely gone nuts? She actually dares to claim a connection with the Witt Pack?" "Lock down the castle in 10 minutes? That's the funniest thing I've heard all year." Julie wiped away tears from laughing and continued humiliating me. "Forget 10 minutes. Even if you waited 10 years, no one would come to save you. Can't pay your debt? I have a solution. Sell yourself to pay it back. There are plenty of wealthy men here. If you aren't too demanding, you might get a pretty good price." She turned toward Kane with a playful smile. "Honey, don't you agree?" "Of course." The moment he said that, several men who had been staring at me with greedy eyes rushed forward and grabbed me roughly. I swept my gaze over every person who had insulted me, like a wild beast pushed to the edge. "Mark my words. I'll make each and every one of you pay!" "Then let us strip you first!" In the chaos, they pinned me to the floor. Someone grabbed my face, someone tore at my clothes, and someone reached for my underwear. Thump, thump, thump! The roar of helicopter blades outside suddenly drowned out the laughter filling the banquet hall. Someone noticed the sound and turned to look out the window. The laughter vanished in an instant.
