Elder Darian pulled a dining table over and spread the parchment across it. "The territory of the Gray Pack will be transferred to the Witt Pack from this day forward. Kane, confirm it and sign." Kane stood before the table. His fingers trembled as he picked up the pen. When the tip touched the parchment, it dragged out a long, uneven line. He took a deep breath, steadied his hand, and signed his name. After that, he looked as if he had aged more than 10 years overnight. Kane's father stood behind him. The anger and unwillingness in his eyes had disappeared, replaced by the acceptance of someone who had finally faced reality. Kane's guards began leaving one after another.
