Enzo's POV.
On my to the address Isabella texted, I couldn't help but contemplate if I was making the right decision, by coming over to this fancy restaurant she had chosen
I was in a bad mood and picking on moods was Isabella's hobby. Bless my heart when she gets to know that the reason happens to be Sofia, she might just kill her before my father does.
Now I think of it, Sofia thinks I'm the biggest threat in her life, the danger and the big bad man in her life but unfortunately for her, she has no idea that two psychos want her dead and gone.
Literally.
Once I approached the parking lot, I came to a realization that I should have just stayed at home, switched off my phone and lied to Isabella the next day that I had a terrible headache or I passed out but that wouldn't suffice.
Because if Isabella waits for me on a date for less than thirty minutes, best believe she is pulling up at my house with her father's men.
So since I was here already, it's best I suck it all up and bear it.
I handed the keys to the valet, as I made my entrance into the space and the first thing I noticed was several familiar faces.
Way too familiar.
My business partners, some of my workers from the office, Isabella's friends which in a way were mine too, even though I don't remember any of their names, but they were all littered around, having their dinner and engaging in small talks.
Immediately I started racking my brain. Was today an important event that I skipped or was this just a pure coincidence?
I gave a quick sweep across the room once again and it was almost as if no one even recognised me, because there was no sign of acknowledgement, not even the tiniest bit and so I waved it all off.
Settling for the most reasonable option being a coincidence.
Right ahead was Isabella, at the most beautiful table in the room, filled with foods and exotic wines also, it was close to the huge windows through which one could see the beautiful lights of the city.
Immediately she sighted me, she raised her hands, calling me and so I put on my best smile as I marched to our table.
"You made it!" Isabella cheered, handing a menu back to the waiter standing right besides her and then she goes ahead to say 'thank you'
That got me.
Isabella was in a f*****g good mood.
She was glammed up, new hairdo, polished nails and the smile, the smile on her face was constant.
"You ordered for us" I stated, examining the table.
"Yes, you know I know exactly what you love and do not" she replied, as she continued taking pictures of her meal.
I guess she was back on influencer mode, Isabella captured the meals on the table from every angle and she was quite slow.
After fifteen minutes, she was done and she finally put her phone away and grabbed her cutlery.
"I guess we can eat now" she announced, smiling at me.
"Finally" I replied, reaching out for my cutlery as well and we both dug in.
Halfway through our meal, Isabella remained cheerful and I could tell she was enjoying the meal.
Honestly, it was great, the steak was perfect and the wine was super too and for the first time in years, Isabella wasn't making snarky comments about the food while she ate it.
After about an hour, we were done with the meal, the servers came and cleared the table, leaving just the wine and some fruit plates that Isabella ordered.
Now it was time to talk.
"The food was great Isabella, but that's not why you called me here right?" I started, my eyes dancing between the plate of Kiwi and slices of apple.
"Of course not, stretch out your hand under the table, there is something I want to give you" She muttered, pushing her hair to the side.
"What..?"
"Just stretch your f*****g hand Enzo" she added again and so I did.
I stretched my hand under the table and after a few seconds, I felt a box on my palm and Isabella smiled at me.
My brows narrowed in confusion as I withdrew my hands, and guess what I saw?
A f*****g diamond ring, in an open box.
I was so confused for a minute as I kept looking at the ring, trying to come up with something when I heard Isabella's voice.
"My engagement ring," she uttered.
"Your engagement ring?" I repeated.
"Yes"
"It should be on your hands, not with me, I don't understand," I said again.
"Well, we are getting married and everyone knows that we have been betrothed since we were kids but I want a proposal so I need you to propose with that ring" Isabella said, petting the diamond necklace on her neck.
"What!?"
"You need to ask me formally to be your wife Enzo, for our friends and your partners and..."
Then it hit me.
Isabella f*****g tricked me.
And the worst part, it wasn't a f*****g coincidence that the mutual friends we had were present.
Fuck.
I should have stayed at home.
I should have resolved that mess with Sofia.
I should have f*****g ignored her call and I shouldn't have come here.
"You lied to me?" I said calmly, examining the ring as my fist clenched under the table.
"Well, that was the only way to bring you out though, did you really think I was going to apologize for all the fun I had during my vacation?" She threw back at me.
"Fun?"
"Well...it was casual that's all that matter, so just f*****g propose and let's get this show ended" she replied, looking around with a wider smile on her face.
Indirectly she was hinting at the fact that people were watching us.
"I'm not going to do that Isabella" I declared.
"Well you have to, my father says so" she countered.
"Your father..."
"I can put a call across..." She added.
"Are you f*****g threatening me?" I retorted.
Immediately her demeanor changed, "Enzo baby, why are you making a big deal out of this, it's just a proposal, think of it like a formal statement to the press, I just want the whole world to know that we are getting married" She said, reaching out for my hands.
Before I could even respond to the ridiculous things was saying, I noticed her friends, rising from their chairs with their phones out and directed towards us.
They were recording.
I was in a f*****g tight spot with Mom way of escaping it, not with the way Isabella was staring at me.
Fuck.
My head was filled up.
My business
My loss.
My dead men.
The pressure from my father.
The hundred million dollars from Isabella's father.
Sofia
And now, I have to propose.
And so I did, I picked up a wine glass and a fork, clinking it twice to draw everyone's attention.
Once I had their attention on me, I scanned the entire area again, Isabella was f*****g clever.
The people from my side that she has invited were the top officials of my company, my shareholders and partners, she knew I wouldn't do anything out of what she wanted.
"Thank you all for joining us today" I started, which was followed with a gentle applause from the guests.
"Well..as you all know, Isabella and I have been betrothed since we were kids...and we grew up looking out for each other knowing that in the future we were going to be together as...one, and now the time has come to make it official, so..." I paused, turning to face Isabella who was now standing and crying.
I swear, she had tears coming out of her eyes as she covered her mouth like it was a surprise. Like she didn't plan it all out and manipulated me.
I got down on my knees and opened the ring box, I heard a few gasps from our friends, the size of the diamond must have shocked them but who cares.
I was doing this.
And so I opened my mouth and popped the question everyone wanted to hear, "Will you marry me Sofia?”
