“Give me the updates on our soldiers”,. I ordered Gardini as I kept my eyes on the road.
“There's good news and bad news. Which do you want to hear first?”, he asked me.
“”Give me the bad news first”
“We counted fifty bodies, boss”, Gardini informed me, with a heavy laden voice
The silence that ensued between the both of us was heavy on us.
I knew that men were meant to die when a war happens, but fifty men was a lot. I know this war was going to be nothing short of bloody from the start.
A tired sigh finally escaped my lips. “What else?”
“About half of the men alive are injured badly. They're all getting treatment at the hospital, so let's just be grateful that they're alive.”
“I'll visit them when I can. Tell them to get some rest.”
