Chapter 7
It’s Book Club day! The best day ever. Katie finished reading me last night. It’s the first time a Human has reached the end of my story. I feel so fulfilled. I’m a real Book now.
Katie clasps the framed wedding photo. She runs a cloth over its corners and across the front. With its dust removed from the glass, the picture is clearer. It’s of a younger and much happier Katie. Even the ünReader looks happy. I wonder if she looks at the photo and notices the change in her? And in him?
The remote control is placed where it belongs, beneath the television. überDesign has been relocated above the piano, leaving me in the center of the coffee table. While I want Book Club to hurry up and happen, I also don’t want it to be over. I’m trapped in a time tug-of-war.
