Chapter 55 Agnes pulled up the hem of her skirt as she stepped off the train at a station that didn’t exist when she left. Then she turned to help down the young girl and the young girl’s mother. She looked around, hoping to see someone waiting for her, but there was no one, no familiar face. But how could there be? She didn’t tell anyone she was arriving. The wind caught her hair. She pulled her scarf around her neck to keep out the first chill of early fall. “Your trunk will be waiting for you in the depot, Miss,” said the conductor.
