Chapter 32 I’ve traded a view of Paris for the warmth of a lined jacket pocket. I am rocked to sleep by the rhythm of a man strolling through Paris. A new movement awakens me. He places me on a seat. We’re on a train! I’m going somewhere new, but where? The endgame of this trip is more of a lottery than a choice—which seems like a metaphor for my life these days. Things could be worse. Things have been worse. Let’s hope things won’t be worse. I could use some predictability right about now.
