Over the next few weeks, Jared, now with his cast removed was getting the hang of injecting himself with his insulin shots and doing his daily finger pricks. He had a nurse come by periodically to make sure he was doing things correctly and was keeping everything clean and sterile.
He and Jonah would soon be leaving to go back to Miami, so he wanted to make sure he understood everything fully. He intended to keep himself as healthy as possible for as long as he could and refused to let this disease get the best of him.
Renee and Al stuck by his side and helped him with Jonah, they both tried their best to help him get accustomed to his new life. They hated to see him go, which was still a few months away, and tried to convince him to come back once things were settled in Miam
