28 - Lanees When Morak left her office, Lanees looked dismayed at the door closing behind him. It took her a few seconds to regain control over her seething emotions and tumultuous thoughts. Her hands worked to straighten her skirt and then to her dishevelled hair, combing it into order. Slowly, the world stopped swirling. Grabbing her purse, she opened the door and rushed out. Both her sight and hearing were muffled while faceless shadows passed by her in the corridor. When she reached the safety of the refresher, she locked herself in and strode over to the sink to splash cold water on her face. But she avoided looking in the mirror.
