Old Ms. Mimi's actions seemed contradictory to those observing the situation. Just moments ago, she had seemingly orchestrated Ethan's exclusion from the future prospects in Los Angeles's influential circles. Now, she was inviting him to stay for lunch, causing confusion among the onlookers. Clara, however, recognized the shrewdness behind Old Ms. Mimi's maneuvers and couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration for her cunning tactics. It wasn't merely a matter of using a carrot and stick approach; Old Ms. Mimi's motives ran deeper. By allowing Ethan to partake in the birthday banquet, she was asserting her dominance and simultaneously cutting off his potential future paths due to his altercation with her grandson. As Ethan was still legally the son-in-law of the Reynolds, Old Ms. Mimi upheld the family ties and insisted that he adhere to the tradition by staying for the banquet. Ethan, acknowledging the situation, complied and took a seat at the table alongside Maya, Alexander, and the other grandchildren of Old Ms. Mimi. In the opulent setting of the grand hall, with numerous luxurious private rooms available at the hotel, Old Ms. Mimi deliberately chose to host the birthday banquet in a lively and extravagant manner. Seated beside Ethan, Alexander's eyes blazed with anger as he directed a cutting remark at his rival, "Ethan, savor this meal, for it may be the last luxurious feast you enjoy in Los Angeles. You might soon find yourself unable to even afford a simple steamed bun. Hahaha!" Sophie, Alexander's younger sister, joined in with a mocking tone, "Brother, you're being dramatic. How could he not afford a steamed bun? Perhaps he'll just have to resort to begging for food, hahaha." Though accustomed to Alexander's taunts, Ethan's attention was piqued by Sophie's sudden comment. Sophie, his cousin-in-law, possessed a striking figure that was well-known throughout Los Angeles, despite not matching Maya's beauty. Due to the strained relationship between Maya and Sophie, Ethan had kept his interactions with Sophie to a minimum, leading to a distant and reserved dynamic between them. As Ethan fell silent, a tension lingered in the air, overshadowed by Alexander's seemingly friendly gesture. With a glass of wine in hand, Alexander approached Andrew, who sat nonchalantly beside him. "Mr. McDonald, your actions today were truly remarkable. The way you handled that situation out there was simply priceless. It was almost like you were training a misbehaving pet," Alexander remarked with a hint of amusement in his voice. Andrew grinned in response, raising his glass to clink with Alexander's. "Oh, Mr. Reynolds, you flatter me too much. If only I had known earlier, I would have suggested we capture it on video. A little entertainment for a rainy day, don't you think?" Chuckling, Alexander agreed, "Indeed, Mr. McDonald, we missed a golden opportunity there." Their laughter filled the room, masking any discomfort that lingered from Ethan's silence. Ethan's gaze shifted towards Andrew, who caught his eye and immediately turned hostile. "What's your problem, huh? You staring at me like that! If you ever think of applying for a job at my company, I'll make sure you regret it. Consider your legs broken," Andrew spat out with a venomous tone, his eyes flashing with threat. Ethan's eyes burned with a fierce determination as he felt the urgent need to eliminate Andrew from his path immediately. Without hesitation, he reached for his phone and dialed the trusted contact of the Sinclair family, Richard Jose. "Sir!" Richard Jose answered promptly on the other end of the line. Ethan wasted no time and got straight to the point, "There's a taxi business owner who persistently tries to invite my grandfather to dinner. What's his name?" Recognizing the urgency in Ethan's voice, Richard Jose replied, "You must be referring to Jackson Hewitt, the CEO of the prime taxi organization." "Yes, that's the one. Contact him and instruct him to revoke the taxi driver proxy in Los Angeles," Ethan commanded with authority. The bombshell dropped by Ethan reverberated across the room, catching the attention of Maya, Sophie, Clara, and others seated nearby. Their expressions turned to shock and disbelief upon hearing Ethan's decisive words, signaling a significant shift in the dynamics at play. Richard Jose acknowledged Ethan's instructions with a sense of understanding and assurance, "Alright, Mr. Hewitt has always expressed a desire to meet Mr. Sinclair senior. It will be a pleasure for him to comply with your request. He has indeed achieved great success, now worth over 10 billion dollars and certainly qualifies for a meal with Mr. Sinclair senior." Ethan nodded in agreement, "Yes, he's been making impressive strides in recent years. I should arrange to meet him someday and treat him to a meal." With that, Ethan ended the call, leaving a momentary silence hanging in the air at the venue. However, the tranquility was shattered when Alexander burst into laughter, the sound echoing through the room. His amusement seemed to stretch the limits of his facial injuries as he chuckled uncontrollably. Amidst the laughter, Alexander managed to speak through his amusement, "Hahaha... What a joke, Ethan. What are you planning? Revoking Mr. McDonald's proxy? Who do you think you are!?" Andrew joined in, taunting Ethan, "Kid, consider the timing and the setting. Even if you want to boast, what's the point of putting on a show here? No one is fooled by a country bumpkin like you." The tension in the room escalated as Ethan's actions and intentions were met with ridicule and skepticism from those around him. Andrew laughed and asked, "Punk, you should consider the time and place. Even if you want to blow your trumpet. What's the point of pretending here? Who would be fooled by a country bumpkin like you." Andrew sneered at Ethan, his words dripping with condescension, "Your father is a farmer, while Mr. Hewitt is a billionaire. Why on earth would he even consider inviting your father to dinner? You're truly living in a fantasy world!" Maya, with a disdainful expression, added her own jab, "How pathetic. If you lack the ability, that's one thing. But why put on this facade of delusion?" Her stern gaze was fixed solely on Ethan, the only one in the room to show such clear disapproval. In response to the mockery and scorn directed at him, Ethan remained composed, picking up his chopsticks and helping himself to some appetizers, seemingly unfazed by the criticism surrounding him. After a few minutes, the tranquil atmosphere was disrupted by the ringing of Andrew's cell phone. His eyes lit up with excitement as he quickly set down his utensils, wiped his hands, and answered the call. "Hello, Mr. Hewitt!" Andrew greeted enthusiastically upon recognizing the caller. The room fell silent as everyone's attention turned towards Andrew, Clara, and the others gesturing for everyone to keep quiet. In the rapidly growing prime taxi industry, Jackson Hewitt had emerged as a prominent figure, amassing a fortune exceeding 10 billion dollars in recent years. The elite individuals gathered in the room were all influential figures of Los Angeles, each eyeing the opportunity to leverage their connections with Andrew to establish a relationship with Jackson Hewitt. Excitedly, Andrew greeted Jackson over the phone, "Mr. Hewitt, I was actually planning to reach out to you in the next couple of days to discuss contract renewal." However, Jackson's response caught everyone by surprise, "I called you specifically to inform you that your proxy in Los Angeles has been revoked!"
