In the first hour after Florence left the city, Timothy finally pulled himself away from Amelia. He pushed open the door to her hospital room, stepped into the hall, and eased it shut behind him before he let out a quiet sigh. His brow drew tight as he fished the phone from his coat pocket and dialed Florence's number. "The number you have dialed is powered off. Please try again later." A cold woman's voice delivered an even colder message. Timothy felt a flicker of surprise.
