We landed hard on the forest floor.
"Everyone get back!" I yelled.
Spin managed to push Benyst back from Noiryn. I laid her on the ground and checked for a pulse; nothing.
"I can do this, I can do this, I can bring her back,” I said.
I took a deep breath and let it out as slowly as I could. Tears were streaming down my face, I wiped them away with the back of my hand. I called on the part of me deep in my belly that held my power and felt it spring to life. Bright green lightning flared in my heart and down my arms, bathing the clearing in a greenish glow. I placed one hand on Noiryn’s belly and wiggled the other underneath her. Now, framing both sides of the wound, I pushed everything I had into Noiryn.
