60 We entered the room. The first thing that struck me was the cathedral ceiling that stretched into darkness. The second was the large gravel circle ringed by a foot high piece of ebony wood. I know I’ve said this before, but what is it with Travellers and circles? To the right, opposite the ring, were a series of steps leading up to a stage. Strewn on the steps were the lounging forms of men whose skin was the same colour as Archer’s. One man was sprawled out like a cat, a chainmail tunic over his leather pants, another man played with a short blade, and yet another sat clad in a leather vest, his jaw hanging open and slack. On the stage itself was a heavy stone seat, a more ornate version of the one Archer sat in at the circle of the Guard. In the chair was a robust bald man.
