41 The screen went blank. Where once there was a great wall of water and sharks and bones and crystals, there was now nothing. “The beach!" I shouted. Royal and I were the first up the stairs. We spilt out into the sunlight, the other sirens right on our heels. I looked around frantically trying to remember which path we had taken from the beach. "That one!" Four-eyes shouted, pointing to a sandy path to our left. We ran down the path, puffing and breathing hard by the time we reached the beach. There, in the sand, right at the water’s edge, were Noiryn and Cosima. Royal and I were at Noiryn’s side in seconds, our wings making short work of the open distance. She was flat on her back, her hands gripping the wound in her side. I reached for the gash, my power flaring in my chest.
