"One day, I'll break free." nahh i changed my mind
"Today's the day," Jay declared, determination burning within. "No more waiting."
She sprinted through the garden, guards hot on her heels. Jay dodged and weaved, her white dress fluttering behind her.
"Damn it!" Jay cursed, stumbling into a muddy pit.
She sank into the mire, mud splattering her face and dress. Jay glared at her reflection in a nearby puddle.
"Well, isn't this just perfect?"
Guards closed in, but Jay remained still, camouflaged by the mud. They passed her by, unaware.
Jay emerged, filthy and furious. She stormed through the gates, into the unknown.
People scattered, whispering warnings. "That's her, the killer!"
Jay rolled her eyes. "Great, Mother's propaganda works."
A group of rowdy teenagers snickered, one stepping forward.
"Hey, look at the dirty princess! What's with the getup?"
Jay smirked, unfazed. "At least my dress doesn't scream 'I have no fashion sense' like yours does."
The teen's face reddened. "You're crazy, just like they say!"
Jay chuckled, mud dripping from her hair. "That's the nicest compliment I've had all day."
As she walked away, a figure watched from the shadows, intrigued.
"Not many people can insult their way out of a fight," he said, approaching Jay. "You're quite... unique."
Jay raised an eyebrow. "And you are?"
"Reno. And you, muddy princess, are?"
Jay grinned mischievously. "Jay, the alleged killer. Nice to meet you."
Reno's eyes sparkled with amusement. "Alleged killer, huh? That's a new one."
Jay shrugged, her muddy dress weighing her down. "Mother's gift to me. A lovely reputation."
Reno chuckled. "Well, Jay, you're certainly interesting. Need help cleaning up?"
Jay hesitated, unsure of Reno's intentions. But something about his warm smile put her at ease.
"Thanks, I'd appreciate that."
Reno led Jay to a nearby stream, where she washed off the mud. As the cool water rinsed away the grime, Jay felt a sense of freedom.
"Better?" Reno asked, handing her a cloth.
Jay nodded, wrapping the cloth around her shoulders. "Much. Thanks, Reno."
As they walked, Reno asked, "So, what's the real story? Why's your mother spreading rumors?"
Jay's eyes clouded. "She wants to keep me isolated, control me. But I won't play along."
Reno's expression turned serious. "Be careful, Jay. People believe what they're told."
Jay's smile was wry. "I'll take my chances."
As the sun dipped below the horizon, Reno stopped at a small cottage.
"Welcome to my home. You can stay for now."
Jay's instincts whispered caution, but Reno's kindness had earned her trust.
"Thanks, Reno. I won't be a burden."
Reno grinned. "You're no burden, Jay. You're a breath of fresh air."
