Chapter 8 THE STORY MY GREAT aunt told me, about how the devil came to have a claim upon my grandmother's very soul, is the type of tale I would have easily dismissed, if it had come from anybody else. As it stands, I'm not sure why I trusted my great-aunt as much as I did, considering I don't remember meeting her prior to that day. She was family, and I guess that was good enough. I took her at her word. Amazing how much of my life I've been heretofore unaware. Incredibly enough, this story doesn't even start with my grandmother. In many ways, it's not her story.
