Surprise

I dashed out of the penthouse and made my way to the hospital. I got to the front of the theater and saw Anita pacing around and Janet sitting with her face buried in her hands. Immediately, the door slid open and the doctor came out of the ward. We quickly rushed to him “Doctor, how did it go?” I asked, my voice shaking, and sweat from nowhere started coming out of me. “You don’t need worry, the surgery was successful, well at least your mother is out of critical condition” “Thank goodness” I heaved a deep sigh of relief “We just have to hope for quick recovery, she’ll be moved to her room, she needs enough time to rest” “Thank you doctor” Anita rushed to the doctor and hugged him. I found Janet in my arms, as we hug. But some questions are left unanswered. I quietly sat down on the waiting chair, holding Janet’s hands. “Now you talk to me, did they pity us?” She shook her head in disagreement “So, How did… I mean, who…” I breathed out deeply as Janet cut me in “Go to the doctor and ask him, we are as clueless as you are” she replied “Yes Gin, I don't mind so long as Mum is gonna get better, or does that matter now?” Anita remarked “Well you’re right, let’s focus on Mum for now, I’ll go make inquiries from the doctor later on. Just immediately, the hospital bed was pushed out of the door, and it was my mum, still feeling unconscious with an oxygen mask over her face. We quickly followed them behind but we were told to leave a distance, as she could be in danger from the environment. We followed the bed from a little distance, and we got into a room. The room was magnificent, it didn’t look like a hospital room, and flowers were decorated around the room. I didn’t know what was going on, but I know we can’t afford this type of room, well not until in 2 weeks. Someone must be behind all this, I mean this is a VIP room for crying out loud, this room could probably cost thousands of euros for a day. “Sir, what’s going on here? this isn’t the room we stayed in” I asked as I slowly took a step after another, glancing around the room. “Sir!” I called out after series of silence “Yes? Hold on” “Could you step out of the room with me for a minute” he finally responded gesturing outside the door I followed him and he began “An anonymous instructed we move your mother into the vip room” “Anonymous? Did you see the person?” I asked raising my brows, titling my head to one side “What did he wear? What did he look like?” I gestured, touching my face and my green silk dress in demonstration. “No i didn't, the order came from the management, as anonymous” “Your hospital bills and medications have been paid upfront too, you can rest your mind now” he patted my shoulders in assurance. “But I need to thank the per…son” I replied with a dragged faint voice. The doctor had already left and couldn’t hear my last sentence. All that went through my head was Who could be this anonymous, my father? Did he change his mind after begging him the other day, but his heart turned like stone. The other day, he treated me like some sort of outcast, I saw a different human being from the father I used to know. His words “You and your mother are not my responsibilities anymore” “I heard you Gin, I can’t help you, you have to find another way” Those words are engraved in my heart, that the more I force myself to forget it, the more I remember it. Including Maria’s grins that turned my stomach. “It can’t be my father” I muttered, shaking my head in disbelief Don’t tell me it’s the rude Elio, I shook my head, hell nah, he doesn't even know anything about me, and besides, it seems all he cares about is his fake relationship contract and his selfish self. I bit my lips hard, and I entered the VIP room. Anita was sitting on the chair opposite my mother. “Are you hungry?” I asked Anita, she nodded “I want to stay with mum a little, before I could go grab something to eat” she responded looking up towards me “Okay” My phone began to buzz violently in my bag, I looked at the screen and it was an unsaved number. I ignored, but it kept on calling, I answered the call “Hello baby girl” A familiar voice called “Elio?” He chuckled “I know you miss me already” “You wish, you tricked me into signing the contract with you” I replied. “and you have the nerve to call me, don’t call me again” I hung up But the phone buzzed again, I picked it up “Why don’t you leave me alone, you scammer!” “No no, you can’t say that my love, i didn’t trick you, why don’t you be patient and see if I really tricked you?” “I mean, if you do well for the next 2weeks, you know the rest. I’m not a man of too many words” “Come out, I want to take you somewhere” “Where are you?” He asked inquisitively, as if he was almost commanding me. “It’s none of your business” “ you are my business now baby girl, you’re mine” he let out an annoying laugh that made my blood boil “I’m not yours!” I exclaimed and hung up I didn’t know the greatest surprise was waiting for me. I switched my phone off immediately. I just wanted to spend the remaining night with my mum, and continue my contract life later on. I sat closely beside my sister, watching my mum breath, fast asleep. I hope her heart is better, since she got diagnosed with heart failure, she hasn’t been the active woman I used to know, I hope everything goes back to normal this time. I heard a soft knock on the door, and Janet went to open the door. There stood a tall man in an ash suit, standing like he was owning his territory. My eyes widened, and my mouth instantly fell open “What…the… hell!” I exclaimed
