After the break, I went back to work, trying hard to keep my head in the right place. The diner was packed, and I barely had time to breathe. Andreia was super nice and helped me a lot, explaining how things worked there.
When the night finally started to calm down, I saw that Barão had shown up at the diner. He was sitting at a table in the corner, watching me. It made me a little nervous, but at the same time, it gave me a sense of security.
“What would you like?” I asked, approaching his table with the notepad in hand.
“A beer and two chicken coxinhas (Brazilian chicken croquettes) with catupiry (a type of creamy cheese)” he replied, with that smile that left me flustered.
