Max lay on his bed, staring up at the ceiling, feeling a sense of emptiness. He missed Ira so much, and the fact that she was engaged to Peter made it all the more painful. He couldn't help but feel a little jealous of Peter, even though he knew that Ira was happy with him. Max's phone beeped, and he saw that it was a message from Ira. She was telling him about her engagement ceremony which was being held next week. Max felt a pang of sadness as he read the message. He knew that he had to move on, but it was easier said than done.
Just then, Max's mom walked into his room and saw him lying on the bed looking sad. "Max, what's wrong? You've been looking sad for days now," she asked.
Max sighed and told his mom about Ira's engagement. His mom listened patiently and then said, "Max, I think you're in love with Ira."
Max was taken aback. "What? No, I'm not. We're just friends," he protested.
His mom smiled and said, "Max, I know you better than anyone. You've been in love with Ira for a long time now, but you've been too scared to admit it to yourself. You're jealous of Peter because you wish it was you who was engaged to Ira."
Max was silent for a moment, then he realized that his mom was right. He had been in love with Ira for a long time, but he had been too scared to admit it. "You're right, Mom. I do love Ira. But it's too late now. She's engaged to Peter," he said.
His mom smiled and said, "It's never too late, Max. If you really love Ira, then you have to tell her. You don't want to spend the rest of your life wondering what could have been."
Max thought about what his mom had said, and he knew that she was right. He had to tell Ira how he feels about her.
Ira is in her room, getting ready to go out. She's feeling sad and lost in thought. Her room's door was open. Mr. Woods walks in and notices that Ira looks upset.
Mr. Woods asked "Ira, what's up? You look like something's bothering you."
Ira replied "Oh, nothing. I'm just getting ready to go out."
Mr. Woods said, "Where are you headed?"
Ira said "Just going to hang out."
Mr. Woods smiled and said "That sounds like fun. Who are you going with?"
Ira replied "I'm going with Peter. He asked me to go with him."
Mr. Woods asked shockingly "Peter, huh? That's great! I'm glad you're getting out and doing something fun."
Ira just nodded and seeing her dull looking face Mr Woods asked what happened and she said,
"I just can't stop thinking about Max. It's been really hard for me lately."
Mr. Woods went near patted her shoulder and said,
"I know it's tough, Ira. But it's good that you're taking steps to move on. Going out with Peter and giving him chance is a good step"
Ira said "I hope so. I just feel so lost without him. I never ever thought of my life without him."
Mr. Woods said "I know it's hard, but you'll get through this. And who knows, you start loving Peter? Just give him a chance, my doll…"
Ira hugged Mr woods.
"Thank you dad…"
Mr. Woods smiled. After a few minutes he left the room. Ira checked the time and got up as Peter would be arriving anytime soon.
Suddenly, Ira's phone starts ringing, and she sees that it's Max calling. She hesitates for a moment, unsure whether to answer or not. After a few rings, she decides to pick up.
Ira said "Hello?"
Max replied, "Ira, hi. It's me, Max."
Ira said "I know it's you. What do you want?"
Max asked "I really need to talk to you. Can we meet up?"
Ira said "I don't know, Max. I don't think that's a good idea."
Max pleaded, "Please, Ira. It's really important. I just need to talk to you."
Ira said in a low voice, " I'm going out tonight with Peter."
Max got furious and asked, "Peter? Is he more important than me, Ira?"
Ira was silent for a few seconds, having tears in her eyes but still replied,
"Peter is my fiancé, Max. You know that. I can't just drop everything to meet up with you."
Max's heart got pierced still he said, "I understand that, Ira. I just really need to talk to you. Can't you just spare a few minutes?"
Ira said in a cold voice, "No, Max. I'm sorry. I have to go now. I'm meeting Peter at the cinema."
Max said, "I just wish you would give me a chance to explain."
"I don't think it's appropriate for us to meet now…"
With that, Ira hangs up the phone. She's shaken by the conversation, but she knows that she's made the right decision. She's moving on with her life, and she won't let Max drag her back into the past.
Max takes a deep breath and puts his phone down. He knows that Ira has moved on with her life, and he can't just let it happen. He looks around his room and sees that he's made a mess, throwing things around in frustration. He gets up saying,
'I won't ever give up on you Ira. I know that you love me and I was a fool for not understanding you. I'll correct my mistakes!!!'
