The meeting ran over than I expected, but I was glad when it was over. Not that I didn't enjoy my beloved coworkers' company. Instead, it was the fact that even after I used my magic on her, Minerva still tried to fight her firing. And Carla still hit her when Minerva threatened her dad. It was a relief when the meeting ended and I could get away from the tension in the room. I was grateful that no one else in the office had witnessed the altercation. I just hoped that Minerva would take this opportunity to start fresh and move on.
When I walked through the door, I saw Koji standing in the middle of the hallway, scratching his head. I walked towards him but saw my three dragons running after each other. I smiled and stopped to watch them. Koji turned to me and said, "They're getting out of control!" I laughed and said, "That's what happens when you have three dragons!" As soon as they heard my voice all three dragons welcomed me home. They flew around me and nuzzled my face with their snouts. I felt a warmth in my heart as I reached out and petted them. They seemed happy to have me back.
"Daddy says you guys have been out of control," I said after they calmed down. "It's time to show him some respect," I continued. "No more fighting." They all nodded in agreement. I gave them a stern look to emphasize my point. "I mean it," I said. They nodded again. I smiled, satisfied that I had gotten through to them. I hugged them all, and told them to head outside so their father and I could talk.
Letting out a sigh, Koji heads over to the nova gray 3 piece sectional couch and plops himself on it. And laid his back on a small pillow. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. His body was tired from the long day, and he was ready to drift off to sleep. But I wasn't about to let him sleep just yet. I sat beside him on the couch and asked,"How was your day so far?" He opens one eye and says,"it wasn't too bad until the kids and I started training." He proceeded to tell me about the obstacles they had to overcome and the progress they had made. As he spoke, I could see the determination in his face and I was truly impressed by his dedication.
Koji wasn't like this at first. He left the kids with me when they hatched. And hidden himself away after what happened that day in the cave where the children were born. But as time passed, he grew more comfortable with the kids. He started to play with them, teaching them new things, and eventually, I could see how much he has grown attached to them. He had truly became a loving father.
Though kids will be kids. The fighting between those three can really drive us up the wall. And don't get me started on their powers. They all learned fire breathing by 2 weeks old! And now at 6 months the kids have mastered flight, super hearing, super strength and speed. We are all excited to see what new abilities they will manifest next. Although the thought can be frightening as well. Considering how crazy those three can get when ecited about something. However, it's amazing to watch them grow and learn. With each passing day, I feel more and more proud of them.
But to more pressing matters.
"Did Mr. Harris come?" I asked. Koji groaned and nodded his head. "He gave me a f*****g headche." I giggled. "What happened?" Koji rolled his eyes. "He wouldn't talk to me at first. He wanted to wait for you." I sighed. "I'm sorry." "If I knew things would get crazy during the meeting, I would've come back home sooner." Koji shook his head. "It's not your fault kid." "That man hates my guts for some odd reason and I couldn't care less about finding out why." Koji puts his hands behind his head and props his feet up. I follow his lead and do the same on the other side of the couch. We both look up at the ceiling, neither of us speaking. The silence was comforting, like we were both in our own individual worlds. Suddenly, a loud crash from the kitchen jolts us back to reality.
"Seiryo!" We both cried. As we both know the only one who could cause such a ruckus is him. Immediately, we got up and walked down the hallway. From there we heard voices. That's not Seiryo. I thought. Koji and I shot puzzled glances at each other trying to figure out who might it be. "An intruder?" Koji asked. "Maybe." I said. "But I don't sense any danger." I gave the house a quick scan with my eyes. But the aura that I felt from the kitchen was familiar.
I couldn't see anything out of the ordinary. I relaxed a little and stepped inside, determined to find out what was going on. "That's just great. You really did it this time Serenity." A girl says. She was 5'7 with long black and blonde ombre wavy hair with bright golden eyes, and caramel skin. She wore a black cloak with a yellow cloud in the middle. She used her magic to mend a few broken cups and plates that fell on the floor. She then used her wand to clean up the mess and put the dishes back in their place. And with another wave of her wand, the kitchen was fully restored to its original state. She smiled, satisfied with her work.
"Well it's not my fault that you wanted me to travel through the pipes," the other girl snapped. She stood 5'8" tall with long blue ombre hair that was half up, half down with ocean blue eyes and brown skin. Her cloak was black as well but with water waves in the middle. When she felt me staring at her, she gave a wave with a nervous laugh.
"What are you two doing here, Esme and Serenity?" I asked annoyed. Serenity and Esme are my two big sisters, Serenity being the oldest and Esme being the second oldest. Serenity is 30 years old with a six-month-old and the wife of the fairy king. In the human world she's CEO of a kids toy company called Rainbow Toys. As for her husband, since the fairies have a lot to do with the seasons, he is a "stay-at-home dad" in the human world. And runs the fairy kingdom.
Esme is 29 years old and a well-known fashion designer in both worlds. She also has a blog about her designs, which is quite popular. She spends time between the human world and our hometown, Charmed City. As for her love life, she is married to a powerful mage who runs her blog when she's on vacation. Esme is an inspiration to many young fashion designers, and her blog is full of helpful tips and advice. She is an advocate for self-expression and loves to show off her unique style. She is an example of someone who has achieved her dreams and is living her best life.
"Hey there sister. How's it going?" Serenity asked walking over to hug me. I stopped her with my hand. "Don't you dare!" I cried while holding her in place. "You haven't seen us in a week. And this is how you treat us." Serenity pouted. I sighed and pulled her and Esme into a hug. We stayed like that for a few moments, but that doesn't mean they're leaving. I'm going to get to bottom of why they're here. So I released them and studied them carefully. "You're wearing your cloaks," I said finally. Esme smiled nervously. She looked over at Serenity and just nodded. Serenity looks at me and says, "Grandma Agatha summoned the coven to discuss merging our land."
I raise an eyebrow. "Merging our land?" "She's nuts!" I shout. Grandma Agatha has always been eccentric, but this was too much. I shook my head in disbelief. There was no way I would let her do this. "She knows that our land holds the greatest amount of magic there. Not to mention, the greatest weapon masters of all time live there as well. And on top of that, we store ancient relics in our vaults that could unleash god knows what!" I threw up my hands and pinch the bridge of my nose. She's giving me a headache already and I haven't even seen her yet! I thought. And then I suddenly felt Koji's hands on my shoulders. I honestly forgot he was behind me. But his presence calmed me down a bit. I took a deep breath, trying to gather my composure. I needed to be prepared before meeting her. I slowly turned around and smiled at Koji, grateful for his support.
He motioned for my sisters and I to sit at the kitchen table so we could talk rationally and calmly. We took our seats and Koji poured us some Koolaid that he made for lunch and brought out the left over sandwiches as well. Esme took a bite out of her sandwich and then says,"We hear what you're saying sis. But the invite wasn't a request. We have to show up and hear what she has to say."Serenity looked at Esme to remind her of her manners. Then she turns to me and follows up on Esme's statement. "Grandma is the matriarch of the family and what she says goes," Serenity said. We all nodded in agreement, knowing that it would be best to just show up and listen. But I still felt uneasy about this merger she's talking about.
Although after thinking about it for a bit, I thought it was odd that none of us had heard about this merger before. Grandma seemed to be keeping something from us, and I had a feeling that this was going to be a long and complicated conversation. "When does she want to talk about this?" I asked. Esme swallowed the last piece of her sandwich and said,"tomorrow night. But she wants to see us now to discuss something else too." I sighed. I had a feeling I wasn't going to like what Grandma had to say. I just hoped it wasn't anything too serious. Koji saw the grim look on my face and placed his hand upon mine. "Just relax kid." He says softly. "Agatha wouldn't summon you if it wasn't of importance." I took a deep breath and nodded. I knew he was right, but I couldn't help but feel anxious.
"Are we planning to get Tina and Megan?" I asked. Tina and Megan are our younger sisters. We can't see grandma without them. "Mom will get them," Serenity replied. "But it's going to be us plus grandma Tabitha, grandpa Huey, and dad." "At this meeting? Or tomorrow night?" I asked confused. It would've been strange for just us to be there for the summoning. "Tomorrow night it's just us," Serenity said. "But tonight it's the whole family," Esme said. I nodded. Then I realized I still had on the jumpsuit from this morning and got up to change. I quickly changed into something more comfortable and returned to the kitchen.
It was 4:30 in the afternoon. Tonight's summoning will be when we get the signal from James, our grandma's familiar. We all moved to the living room and waited for the signal. While we waited, I told them about my day and Minerva. Esme already knew about my rewards because of the bloggers who read my books. But both she and Serenity weren't surprised by the Minerva's situation. "That b***h has always been jealous of you," Esme remarked, flipping her hair. "That was more than jealousy." Serenity says looking at me. "She's clearly a psycho and needs that ass beat." Koji nodded in agreement. "I know." I admitted.
Minerva most definitely needed that ass beaten. She has been a bully since I signed and made no effort to hide her distain for me. "But I didn't want Carla to lose her job." I said to my sister. Even though Carla is Mr. Norman's daughter, he can't play favorites. No matter who it is.
"Well I can say one thing, I'm very proud of you." Serenity beams at me. "You most definitely deserve the rewards for your book. I honestly couldn't put it down." Esme and Koji nodded in agreement. "The family will be thrilled too, Angel." Koji comforted. I can only hope they will be proud. I thought. I haven't seen most of my family since I moved. However, I kept in contact so they wouldn't worry. There was a lot that happened during that time and I just needed some time away. Now that we're having this summons, I don't think we'll have time to rejoice.
As if reading my mind, Koji touches my hand. "After the summons, we'll celebrate." Koji smiles. "Oh we're definitely celebrating!" Esme says enthusiastically. "Accomplishments like these can't just not have one." Serenity giggles and I smile shaking my head. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves." I say looking at Esme. I know my big sister she loves big parties. And she loves to show out and have fun. Not that I'm above fun. I'm just lowkey. "How about we just have a quiet dinner together?" I suggest. Esme wrinkles her nose. 'That's a good idea," Serenity agreed. Koji nods in agreement as well and Esme reluctantly concedes. "Fine, just dinner. But it has to be a really nice one!" She smiles, her enthusiasm restored. We laugh and make a toast to our upcoming adventure.
We talked for what seemed like a few more minutes but when I looked at the clock on my living room table, it was 6:30. Suddenly, a silver cloud released a shower of stars dust. It was time. As dust fell upon us, we teleported into another dimension. We arrived in an impressive grand hall surrounded by millions of tiny rainbow lights and orbs all around us. The marble floor was like a mirror which gleamed brightly as others teleported in as well. At the far end of the grand hall, a large throne made from the same silver willow tree materialized from the clouds. There were two large purple orbs floating on either side. The rest was tree stems and bark coated in rainbow stones. On the throne sat a figure draped in a black dress, with an enormous pointed witch's hat with a star in the middle. She was young and beautiful. With her flawless smooth caramel skin long pink wavy hair and glowing silver eyes that sparkled like diamonds.
She is my grandma Agatha. My dearest great-grandma. She is what we witches call the grand witch. The queen of the Charmed City. Her youthful appearance was that of a long story. But she's very wise and powerful. And despite her young appearance, she's not someone you want to mess with. As soon as all of my family filled the room, she arose from the chair. From where I was standing I could see sadness in her eyes. "Hello my darlings." She greets us. "I'm sorry for summoning you all like this but it has come to my attention that the wise man Grandpa William has been attacked. And we're not sure he'll make it."
We all gasp in shock and I feel a lump forming in my throat. Grandpa William was the most cherished person in the magical community and we loved him dearly. Everyone was determined to find out who did this and make them pay.
