As I sat down rens bags I heard her slap Melony, s**t it was a joke and I didn't even double check. I don't know why she makes me so nervous and awkward. I'm a hundred year old vampire. Well too late now if she seems uncomfortable later or asks me to move her stuff then I will but at this point I think it would be more embarrassing to explain I didn't realize it was a joke. I walked slowly back down the stairs this time and into the kitchen to see the girls absolutely devouring wings and pizza I grabbed a slice myself and sat down in the chair closest to rens tazz looked up from whatever he was doing on his phone what about you sweets do u want to be my roomie he asked Melony while raising his eyebrows. She faked an exaggerated accent and said well I would be honored good sir, follow me then he said scooping up her bags and leading her to his room.

It quickly became too quiet as I waited for Ren to finish her food. When she took her last bite I stood offering her a hand. I led her to my room where all the bags were scattered on my bed. All this is for you the closest is right over there and there are some empty drawers if I got the wrong sizes or anything let me know I said as I started handing her bags to go through she picked a pair of plaid pj pants and a white tank top and I tried not to notice that she also picked the white lace bra and underwear set but I did, she then began pulling the soaps lotions body scrubs and many other girly shower things out I may have went overboard a bit with those because I didn't know what was necessary or the scents she liked. Do you mind if I take a shower now she quietly asked not at all we can finish going through all this in a bit I said moving the bags into the closet and walking out to give her some privacy I walked back down stairs putting some ice packs we just got into the freezer and finding the heated blankets and putting them on the couch for the extreme hot and cold flashes that would be starting anytime now that the hunger had set in. Then I plopped down on the couch looking at my phone.

I seen several missed calls from Frank I pressed call and Frank answered immediately hey rex I've been trying to get ahold of you did you figure out the girls names I have them labeled as a and b in the system but their results should be in tomorrow morning we also just found out there are three more reports of ferals on the loose and we still haven't found the one who changed your girls, which you understand how weird that is it's almost like they are organized which is impossible. Yes we have their names, the one who was in the white dress her name is Ren and the other one her name is melony. We can all come in tomorrow morning. That way the girls can get a look at the facility, call my guys and let them know to come in too we will look for some leads and try to bring in some ferals for the bounty. It has been a few months since I picked up any work. I hung up the phone just as tazz and melony walked down stairs both with wet hair, tazz had a smirk on his face and melony seemed to be blushing. I rolled my eyes at the fricken animal.

Ren finally walked down stairs her strait waist length black hair dampening her white tank making it even more transparent and her soft black and white flannel pants hugging her hips perfectly just a crack of her abdomen showing her face slightly red from the heat of the shower I licked my lips and our eyes met I cleared my throat standing I'm going to make some popcorn put their show on I told tazz tossing him the remote.

I got into the kitchen digging in the cupboard for the microwave popcorn I don't understand why I couldn't act normal I have been with hundreds of women beautiful women none have ever made me so nervous I did and said so much embarrassing stuff, none damn sure ever made me feel nervous just to be caught admiring how they looked. I shook my head tossing the popcorn in the microwave and pouring myself a large drink I took a sip hearing the popcorn start popping before I heard a scream from the living I ran in to see Ren dropped to the floor with her hands over her ears tears streaming down her face what's f*****g happening Melony screamed. I ran over to Ren. What's going on baby what hurts she cried harder s**t the popcorn tazz her hearing hit turn off the microwave and the TV. He hopped into action until the house was quiet again, Ren slowly removed her hands from her ears tears still rolling down her face I am so sorry baby I have never seen hearing hit so early I said stroking her hair, it sounded like gun shots right beside my ear over and over Ren said still crying a little. I know it was the popcorn popping you must have focused in on the sounds coming from the kitchen and it brought in your hearing early. I have never seen it happen so soon in the process on day one before the hunger even got bad or before you even started to struggle with your temperature I said softly.

Okay Ren said standing how can you guys be in places like the club or standing next to the microwave if we all get super hearing. I couldn't help but laugh a little at her phrasing causing her to scowl. I shook my head. You learn to control it for a while. Everything is going to be loud not as loud as that was. You had to have focused on that sound for it to be that extreme. You will learn to focus on the sounds that you want to hear to use your amplified senses to your benefit because hearing isn't the only one that changes and you will also learn how to filter other sounds so you hear them at a normal volume. Ren nodded and I heard her stomach grumble. She sits down and I'll get you some food. I walked into the kitchen grabbing a pie and a serving knife I also just grabbed the whole bag of take out looking at the popcorn in the counter I went ahead and grabbed that to carrying everything back into the living room and finding plates and silverware in the takeout bag I grabbed a big piece of apple pie then passed the bag off to Ren who chose some kind of seafood soup and passed the bag to tazz.

So what do we have to expect to happen during this change? Ren asked, looking up at me, I swallowed my bite well. The hunger seems to be getting stronger. It will stay incredibly strong all through the week but blood will keep it away longer than food. If you go without blood you will first lose your ability strength speed then you will slowly wither away until it does kill you. So vampires can die, Melony asked. I nodded yes we can die it takes a lot longer for us to die of starvation than it does humans though, with food and no blood I would say probably six months with neither it would be faster. How much blood do we need, well that really depends some vampires suck all or most of the blood out of a human once a week others like me and tazz use blood from a blood donation center I own one actually where humans who know about vampires come and donate blood people who romanticize vampires from all the movies mostly or people who want to be changed.

We have found that about a shot glass full a day keeps all of your powers at full strength so a couple blood packs from the donation center a week keep us at full strength the rest get sent to the VCA where more vampires have access to them and don't have to kill or change people if they don't want to. The place doesn't stop you from killing or changing people. I scowled no they don't stop me from killing or changing people because I do not I don't even change the people who want to be changed at the donation center I let vampires who want to feed from a body do that and killing is not allowed in the center, but no the VCA does not stop vampires from killing or changing as long as they are not blatantly exposing us to the whole public and are getting their changes DNA tested and treated if they have the feral gene then it is not against the rules I snapped.

Ren shrank back making me feel guilty I'm sorry I said she nodded I wasn't trying to say you went around killing or changing I meant vampires in general Ren said I nodded I Know I just worked really hard coming up with the idea for the center so I didn't have to change people who didn't want to be changed and with the IVs I didn't even have to change anyone at all but there are other reasons vampires like to feed from a body. What are those Ren asked raising and eyebrow at me, they are umm I stammered well when you feed from a body and the blood is flowing from them into you so are their emotions whatever they are feeling which can be fear which a lot of vampires really enjoy but also under other circumstances when the person being bitten is willing and wants to be changed it can get pretty heated and all of their desire is transferred over to you feeding your own it can be quite the experience. Sounds like your very experienced in that experience Ren sneared rolling her eyes.

I uh a few I stammered feeling extremely guilty like I had done something wrong even though I just met Ren, this was years before I even knew you existed I haven't changed anyone or drank from the body since I opened the donation center I explained even though I don't know why Ren blushed I'm sorry I have no reason to be snappy about it anyway you do not owe me an explanation she murmured. I nodded thinking the same thing and not knowing why my immediate reaction was to defend my actions to her. I heard her stomach grumble as she still has the soup in her hands, I think it is time for you to have some blood the pain will only get worse you will need more than a shot glass a day during the change after your first time after the change though we can slowly lower the amount while you get used to the feeling of hunger that lingers all the time and find your way of dealing with it if that is what you want. Ren cringed. What I want is to not drink blood. I don't even like to look at it. I can't even imagine taking a shot of it, Ren groaned. I have an idea. I said standing and walking to the kitchen, everyone right on my heels.
