Chapter 35: The only one allowed

The great inventor who revolutionized humanity with his very hands found himself at the peak of despair.

The limbs he uses to create cutting-edge technology were separated from his body, like a hummingbird deprived of the ability to fly whilst singing the songs of nature.

Hope was nowhere to be found, Arion's death flashes right before his remaining eye not until he saw the familiar girl whom he loved dearly despite what she did to him sacrifices herself.

Her long crimson hair swayed by the ever-changing winds, her rogue garments that utilize speed and dexterity rather than defense were battered, carrying daggers in her hands backward.

The girl that the great inventor dearly respected for her sweetness, he finally remembered the name of her lover that murdered him.

"Yuna Belle... why off all times..." Arion wept upon seeing her swiftly blocking all the incoming needles the mythical beast invoked. Even with her deft sleight-of-hand way of striking anything that comes in her way is taking a toll on her physique.

"Run... you i***t Arion... run while you can! I know this is sudden, but this will be the last exchange of words we'll be having." Yuna's voice trembles. Some needles somehow get past through her despite her overwhelming weapon manipulation.

Slowly but surely, a couple of needles pierced her shoulders, legs, and arms, the rain of needles never ends. The more seconds that passes by, the more projectiles exponentially increases without end.

At this rate, Arion deduced Yuna will have the same fate as him; missing limbs and a lost eye seeking to defend herself from any kind of fatal injury, she's barely protecting her delicate organs.

"No... you should not sacrifice yourself..." In spite of the amount of blood he losses each second, this man never knows the meaning of pain. "I never came here to die... I got reincarnated in this magical world to create, dammit!" Arion shouted the cry of his soul.

Layers of magical circle circulated below them, it was Adriel who chanted and she exclaimed. "Status Accelerate, Regen Up and Resistance Up!" She then proceeded to throw her precious status up potions below it imbuing them with its properties; sort of buff.

"Don't die yet on me now, Arion!" She maximized the full potential of alchemy further increasing their physical capabilities.

It does halt the bleeding yet the amount of blood he lost was quite tremendous and to top it off, he was considerably anemic before even he reincarnated; he began sensing the throbbing pain in his heart and mind go skyward.

"I will no longer run anymore... I will not repeat the same mistake!" Lilith who cowered in fear stood up once again. She circled her magical staff and invoked her spell. "Protect us against fear: Wall of Flame!"

The flames of hellfire spiraled in front of Yuna. The needles can still penetrate the wall of flame but because of the help of the fire, she can clearly see where the trajectory of each needle will land and so she can block it without mistake.

"Your companions are as stubborn as you are... jeez!" Yuna accumulated a considerable amount of dark magic in her palms.

The mythical beast had sensed her right away that changing position is the best option. Although no one could escape the blades of the Shadow Weaver. "Cast upon the shadow of oblivion, follow its target until it reaches: Shadow Blade!"

Yuna slashed both of her daggers towards the mythical beast and a trailing shadow was created that acted as a projectile. The shadow blades pierce exactly at the eyes of the beast as it roars the anguish it took.

"You... I'm gonna flatten your kingdom along with your Goddess!" The mythical beasts readied long-range accumulation energy magic when Arion stood up once more.

"I shall not let this happen... Mechanical Exoskeleton... reanimate!" A blinding light of illumination escape from his pocket.

The Infinite Core he created for the purpose of extracting magic and mana shone a warm light of hope, his Mechanical Exoskeleton reacted greatly absorbing the thick amount of mana circulating around his proximity.

A moment of silence was then filled by the clanking carapaces, the metallic bonds that were cut off along with his limbs gradually implanted on his flesh and bones, and later these hard alloys gleam its radiance forming an artificial left arm.

The new mechanical arm he possessed accumulated enough mana from his Infinite Core, he then pounded his fist on the ground; the force was enough to form a trail of drive shattering the ground. This disturbance caused an imbalance to the beast that's chanting another devastating spell.

However, he mostly took physical injuries, and soon afterward, he fell flat on the grasses. After all, he lost too much blood. If he's not treated right away, he will slowly meet his second death.

"A mist of umbral pavement kept hidden: Shade Cloak!" Yuna cast her concealing magic.

A layer of the dark magic circle below Lilith, Adriel, and Arion appeared encapsulating them inside the shadows. In a split second when the mythical beast roared pure flames of hellfire, they suddenly disappeared without a trace.

"Without magic... you cannot escape your end!" Those are the words Arion heard echoing in his head even if he is unconscious. They run away from the clutches of a beast that wanted to bring down an entire kingdom on his own.

Unaware of the place they went, Adriel found herself in her living room the moment she opened her eyes. The mysterious girl that saved them was beside Arion, for he pitifully lost both of his hands.

But the Mechanical Exoskeleton he had managed to reanimate his left arm made out of alloys. Lilith was also safe lying on the carpet, she was also knocked out and she was definitely fine.

"I can't believe I have to use my Shadow Cloak... but more importantly, Arion! You must wake up!" It's evident from her wavering voice that she truly cares for him, the blackness of her eyes reflects her worst nightmare.

The Shadow Cloak is a skill from Yuna's Shadow Weaver class which can only be activated when his HP is below 10% allowing her to escape within the shadows and teleport to the safest place she visited. It turns out she was roaming inside Adriel's house lately that's why it's where they ended up.

Although, even Adriel felt guilty thinking she doesn't have the right to stay beside him when she couldn't do anything but watch him lose his eyes and limbs.

Before it's too late, Yuna pulled every Health Potions she had in her inventory and showered Arion with it. To Adriel's surprise, she even performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation hoping to wake him up right away.

"You must wake up Arion... I'm the only one allowed to kill you!"
