Elian lay unconscious on the large bed, his burgundy suit jacket had been removed and shirt was unbuttoned. Blood had dried on the side of his head and down his face. Dex sat beside him on the bed, jaw clenched so tightly it sure would ache. He carefully cleaned the deep gash on the side of Elian’s head with steady hands, but his eyes were burning with rage he could barely contain. Every time he looked at Elian’s pale face and the bruise forming on his temple, something dark twisted in his chest. This wasn’t how it was supposed to go.
