As Isla was being escorted out of the inpatient building, the area outside was already surrounded by reporters. Ezra, who had just arrived, pushed through the crowd. When he saw Isla in handcuffs, his face turned pale and he rushed over. "Maren! Maren!" he cried. He broke through security, threw himself in front of me, his eyes pleading. "What are you doing? What did she do wrong that you have to push her to the edge?" I looked at this face I once loved, and felt nothing but utter strangeness and ridicule. I answered, "She just tried to pull out my grandmother's oxygen tube. That's attempted murder. Ezra, if you can't bear to part with her, why not join her in prison?" Ezra shuddered and looked at Isla in disbelief. Isla waved her hands frantically. "No, it's all a misunderstanding!"
